Job summary

BDO UAE is seeking an experienced Senior Auditor to join our UAE team. The role involves leading audit engagements, performing reviews of complex financial statements, and maintaining independent client relationships.

Candidates should have 6+ years post-qualification experience and hold a CA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent. The position requires strong English communication skills, and prior Big 4 or large multinational exposure is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead preliminary client meetings and understand client business and key metrics.
  • Review and sign off on audit work ensuring quality and compliance.

Job description

  • Perform first-level reviews of complex financial statements and audit engagements in accordance with IFRS and applicable auditing standards.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of clients' businesses, key financial metrics, industry trends, and prior-year audit findings before the commencement of engagements.
  • Organize and lead attend preliminary meetings with clients as per allocated portfolio.
  • Manage effectively different points of view to build consensus, promote collaboration and create a positive work environment for all team members
  • Review and sign off on audit work appropriately, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with professional standards..
  • Understand the client's requirements in detail. Organize ideas logically and present thoughts rationally and confidently.
  • Prepares and reviews documentation by anticipating questions that reviewers may ask, including not just the conclusion but the relevant facts, analysis, reference to authoritative literature and professional judgements made in reaching it
  • Documents objectivity, independence and continuance decisions, checking that sufficient enquiries have been made and that all information has been captured.
  • Checks that staff on the engagement have adequate technical knowledge, including industry knowledge, for the areas in which they are working.
  • Prepare/review reports and communicate findings and recommendations to the client and agree with them.
  • Actively participate in presentations to Audit Committees, Boards of Directors, and Those Charged with Governance (TCWG), and lead audit closing meetings with clients.
  • Perform appraisals or Support the Manager/ Director in performing appraisals for team members assigned on the engagement.
  • Encourage others to take ownership of their own personal development. Be open and direct in dealing with difficult issues and conflicts
Key Attributes:
  • Minimum 6+ years of post-qualification audit experience, preferably with a Big 4/professional services firm or a large multinational organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of leading audit engagements and managing client relationships independently.
  • Strong English communication skills, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Professional qualification is mandatory: CA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.
  • Experience in planning, executing, and reviewing audit engagements, while managing team performance and stakeholder expectations.
