Job Description

MAIN OBJECTIVE OF ROLE

• To oversee, working with IT, the development, integration, and management of advanced systems and automation technologies across airport operations, ensuring that airport systems such as baggage handling, passenger flow, check-in, and security systems, are optimized, secure, and aligned with strategic objectives to enhance operational efficiency and improve customer experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leads the business design, implementation, and business continuity plans of advanced airport systems such as passenger check-in, baggage handling, security systems.
• Drives automation initiatives with IT to streamline airport processes, ensuring seamless integration of new technologies.
• Works with IT to evaluate emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), and implements best practices to enhance system performance and efficiency.
• Works with IT to ensure all airport systems remain operational, delivering uninterrupted service for airport staff and passengers.
• Works with IT to oversee the regular upgrading and maintenance of all systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborates with IT and airport operational teams to address any system-related challenges and ensure swift resolutions.
• Leads cross-functional projects related to the deployment of new automation systems, ensuring timely delivery and successful integration into current operations.
• Coordinates with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure projects meet technical specifications, budgets, and timelines.
• Oversees the IT teams development and implementation of Sprint Departure Control System (DCS) and other platforms across the flydubai network.
• Manages a team of system analysists and specialists, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
• Co-creates and manages the strategic technology roadmap for the department, ensuring alignment with flydubai’s business objectives.
• Liaises with airport authorities, airlines, and external partners to ensure alignment with operational needs and compliance with aviation standards.
• Explores new opportunities for automation and ancillary services that can enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Leads the management of data identification from various airport systems to produce business intelligence reports that support departmental goals.
• Acts as a champion for new products and services that enhance the overall customer experience at flydubai’s airports, supporting continuous improvement.
• Develops a comprehensive understanding of airport and ground handling technology to lead the search for innovative solutions that improve the airport experience across the network, serving as a subject matter expert on systems and automation for internal and external stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree (3+ years)
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Fluent in English (other languages an advantage)
• Experience in airport systems, automation, or related fields, with a proven track record of managing large-scale automation projects. Experience in aviation industry technology, including baggage handling systems, passenger processing, or flight information systems. Strong project management skills, with a background in leading cross-functional teams and managing vendors.

ISR REQUIREMENTS

• Reads and complies with the ISR policies of the Company and diligently reports any weakness or incidents to the respective Line Manager or the Information Security team. Completes all required ISR awareness sessions and follows associated guidelines in the day-to-day business operations.
