The Maintenance Manager will ensure that all workshop activities are technically sound, properly supervised, safely executed, commercially controlled, and aligned with customer commitments agreed by the service team.

Day-to-day task execution will be handled by the Maintenance Supervisor, technicians, helpers, and workshop support team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Workshop & Maintenance Management – Manage daily workshop activities including inspections, diagnostics, repairs, servicing, testing, preventive maintenance, and final quality checks.
  • Technical Diagnosis & Repair Control – Review diagnosis, repair recommendations, required parts, labour estimates, and technical solutions before work execution.
  • Job Allocation & Workshop Planning – Allocate jobs to Maintenance Supervisors and technicians based on skill level, job urgency, workload, tools, and delivery commitments.
  • Quality Assurance – Ensure completed jobs are inspected before release, repeat complaints are reduced, and repairs are completed as per required technical standards.
  • Technician Productivity – Monitor technician productivity, attendance, job completion, idle time, discipline, and overall workshop efficiency.
  • Preventive Maintenance Planning – Develop and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for company vehicles, customer vehicles, fleet customers, and service contract customers.
  • Parts & Material Control – Validate spare parts requirements, control parts consumption, prevent wastage, and coordinate with procurement/stores for timely availability.
  • Tools, Equipment & Workshop Readiness – Ensure workshop tools, equipment, diagnostic devices, lifts, safety equipment, and work areas are properly maintained and available.
  • HSE & Housekeeping Compliance – Ensure workshop activities comply with safety standards, PPE requirements, housekeeping expectations, and company HSE procedures.
  • Technical Reporting & Escalation – Report workshop performance, major technical issues, delays, rework, parts shortages, manpower gaps, and quality concerns to the Manager – Auto Division.
Required Experience
  • 7+ years of experience in automotive maintenance, workshop operations, fleet maintenance, mechanical repairs, or technical service management.
  • Minimum 3 years in a workshop management, maintenance management, or technical supervisory role.

The role is also not responsible for front‑end customer service management, which remains with the Operations Manager – Service. However, the Maintenance Manager must provide accurate technical input, realistic repair timelines, and proper workshop support to ensure service commitments are achieved.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be a technically strong automotive maintenance professional with practical workshop experience, diagnostic capability, team supervision skills, and quality control discipline.

He should be able to manage technicians, control repair quality, reduce rework, plan preventive maintenance, manage workshop capacity, and support the Auto Division's commercial objectives through efficient technical execution.

The candidate should not be only a senior mechanic. The role requires someone who can manage the workshop as a disciplined technical operation with proper controls, reporting, safety, and productivity focus.
