Job summary

Americana Restaurants in the UAE seeks a Maintenance Engineer to lead an in-house team of technicians and external vendors, ensuring all restaurants, commissaries, and offices meet global standards for MEP, health & safety, branding, and compliance.

The role requires strong supervisory skills, English communication, and knowledge of UAE regulations. Focus areas include Capex/Opex management, energy optimization, and continuous improvement through IoT and digital solutions.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years in an overall Restaurants Maintenance background.
• BSc in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering is a must.
• Strong hands-on and supervisory experience on Kitchen Equipment and MEP; knowledge of UAE regulations and landlords.
• Must communicate in English; Arabic a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage an in-house team of technicians and external vendors to meet MEP, general maintenance, branding, compliance, and safety standards.
• Own reactive complaint handling and preventive maintenance scheduling; ensure SLA/KPI adherence.
• Direct POC for the Operations team and key stakeholders; coordinate with supply chain, finance, and landlords.
• Oversee Capex and Opex planning, reporting, and cost control; minimize external vendor usage where possible.
• Drive energy and sustainability initiatives, IoT projects, digital thermostats, and solar installations.
• Plan shifts, training, and ongoing skill development for the maintenance team.

Job description

Job Purpose:

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for managing an inhouse team of technicians and external vendors to make sure the Americana Restaurants, Commissaries and Head/Regional offices are well maintained to the global standards in terms of MEP, General Maintenance, Branding, Compliance, Health & Safety etc. The Engineer will be the direct point of contact for Regional Operation team and will make sure excellent customer services and SLA are achieved. The Engineer will be responsible for taking the NSO from the Construction team as per the HO standards and maintained these restaurants to the same standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Reactive Complaint / PPM

• Must be able to manage response time for technician and external vendors as per Americana Maintenance SLA/KPI
• PPM WO to be completed and monitored as per the SLA and compliance

2) Customer and Stakeholder Management

• As a Maintenance supervisor must have excellent customer relationship and stakeholder management
• Direct POC for Operation team as per the AOR and must be available and respond during Restaurants Operation time
• Stakeholders like Supply chain, Finance, Landlord Management

3) Capex and OPEX Management

• Execute the yearly Capex plan for the year end to end(Technical Reports, RFP, and Execution and Reporting) for his AOR
• Manage the monthly and yearly OPEX Budget and not overspend
• Minimize the jobs from External Vendors by rectifying them through his in-house team and ensure the spares are not replaced unless necessary Advises supervisor regarding major repairs / changes required.

4) Energy and Sustainability Management

• Help Americana Maintenance team with achieving the targets initiatives for the year with IoT projects, Digital thermostats, water and gas consumption, solar panel installation etc.

5) Team Management

• Must be able to manage a team of tech. and external vendors.
• Arranging training for his team through both inhouse and outside trainers
• Shift planning and priority planning etc.

6) Personal Growth

• Improve skills & efficiency by attending courses.
• Making sure to use latest digital tech. in his daily work and work smart to manage the volume of WO both PPM and RM.

Education:

BSc in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering is a must.

Experience:

5-7 years in an overall Restaurants Maintenance background.

Job-Specific Skills:

Strong hands-on and supervisory experience on Kitchen Equipment and MEP, plus have a very good knowledge of UAE market in terms of authority regulations, malls/landlord requirements.

Language Skills:

Must be able to Communicate in English, Arabic speaking would be big plus, having excellent written and oral capabilities.

IT Skills:

Good knowledge of using Field Management System, MS office skills, CAFM Software’s, Iot based apps
