Job summary

Kempinski Hotels in Dubai is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure the safety and security of guests at the poolside. The incumbent must be a certified lifeguard with active status and will monitor designated swimming areas during posted hours.

Qualifications

• Certified Life Guard with active status from any world Life Guard Association.
• Ability to ensure guest and employee safety in pool/beach areas.
• Knowledge of pool safety rules and hotel policies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of guests and employees inside designated swimming areas during business hours.
• Perform artificial respiration and CPR as required.
• Maintain safety setup at beach/pool including flotation devices, flags, rescue equipment.
• Supervise windsurfers, sailing boats and sea bikes; coordinate rescues if needed.
• Respond to emergencies within pool/beach areas and report hazards.
• Log activities such as windsurfers and crew, and ensure activities follow security rules.
• Perform duties in line with company policies and hotel safety regulations.

Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for the safety and security of our guests at the poolside.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safety of guests and employees that are inside the designated swimming areas (beach/pool) during the posted business hours.
• Must be a certified Life Guard of any of the world Life Guard Associations and of active status.

• Artificial Resuscitation (mouth-to-mouth)
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

• Responsible for keeping the designated and marked swimming areas free of any engine is driven a boat or alike, windsurfers or sea bikes (pedals).
• Responsible for keeping swimmers/snorkelers out of boat tracks or any other hazardous area.
• Responsible for responding to any emergency within the hotel swimming area/pool area.
• Responsible for the safety set-up at the beach/pool which includes:

• Set up of the life‑saving floatation devices along the shoreline/around the pool.
• Correct flag (colors) must be put up during business hours.
• Rescue Surfboard/Boat ready on the shoreline.
• First Aid Kit at the beach/pool chair/post.
• Posting of business hours.
• The depth of the pool (s).
• Water & Air Temperatures.
• Wind force/Wind speed

• Responsible that there is a rescue boat with engine available at all times.
• Responsible for the logging in and logging out of the windsurfers, sailing boats and number of crew and sea bikes and number of crew. Ensures that these activities are executed in the designated areas.
• Monitors / observes and controls the windsurfers, sailors, and sea bikes while out on the sea. Supervise and organizes the rescue of windsurfers, sailing boat or sea bikes if needed.
• Responsible for ensuring that all Water Sports activities or Pool Activities are executed according to the Security Rules.
• Responsible for a temporary replacement while going to the bathroom and for lunch or breaks etc.
• Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve overall objectives of this position.
• Understand and strictly adhere to the Rules & Regulations established in the Employees Handbook and the Hotel’s policy on Fire, Hygiene, Health & Safety.
• Ensure that all potential and real hazards are reported and rectified immediately.
• Perform any other duties as assigned to them by management.
• Additional responsibilities and tasks can be added at any time according to the needs of the business and of the hotel.
