Job summary

Jing Hau in Dubai is seeking a Library Assistant to help patrons locate and check out books, organize shelves, and support daily library operations.

You will handle circulation tasks, assist with processing new materials, and provide basic reference help while ensuring a clean, orderly environment. This is a full-time position with weekend/evening shifts possible.

Responsibilities:

• Assist patrons with finding and checking out books, periodicals, and other materials.
• Organize and shelve books and other materials according to the library's classification system.
• Maintain an orderly and tidy library by re-shelving books and ensuring that all areas are free from clutter.
• Help with processing new materials by stamping, labeling, and covering them.
• Handle circulation tasks such as issuing library cards, renewing books, collecting fines, etc.
• Provide basic reference services to patrons by helping them locate information or materials they need.
• Assist in planning and implementing library programs for children and adults.
• Maintain accurate records of circulation statistics, inventory, and other important data.
• Report any damaged or missing items to the librarian.
• Keep up-to-date with new releases and popular titles to assist patrons with book recommendations.

Requirements:

• Indian national preferred
• Proficient in English (spoken and written)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in a library setting is not required but is considered a plus
• Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) including occasional evenings and weekends
• Must have a valid biometric passport
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Excellent customer service skills
