Job summary

Avanta Works in Dubai, UAE is seeking an Indian Librarian to manage and organize our library collection, assist patrons with research, and promote library resources and services.

The role emphasizes cataloging with the Dewey Decimal System, reference services, and collaboration with colleagues. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Library Science with at least two years' experience, strong English communication, and solid tech skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a library setting.
• Familiarity with the Dewey Decimal System and cataloging procedures.
• Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
• Strong customer service and research skills.
• Proficiency in using technology for research.

Responsibilities

• Catalog, classify, and maintain the library collection using the Dewey Decimal System
• Assist patrons with locating materials and conducting research
• Provide reference services and answer questions related to library resources
• Develop and implement programs to promote library resources and services
• Collaborate with other librarians to create displays and exhibits showcasing various materials
• Evaluate new materials for inclusion in the collection based on relevance, quality, and demand
• Train library staff on cataloging procedures and use of library technology
• Maintain accurate records of library transactions such as checkouts, returns, and fines
