Job summary

Want More in Dubai, UAE is seeking a Librarian to manage cataloging, acquisition, circulation, reference and research services. The role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills and fluency in English. Working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint is expected.

The successful candidate will handle readers’ advisory, plan library programmes, supervise staff, and support research activities across diverse user groups. Flexibility in hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
• Experience in a public or academic library is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of current trends in librarianship is preferred but not required.
• Must be computer literate with knowledge of software applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the library's collection of books, periodicals, audio-visual materials and other materials.
• Monitor the condition of the library's materials and equipment.
• Provide readers’ advisory services.
• Plan and implement library programmes such as book clubs and author visits.
• Research new materials and methods in librarianship to improve service delivery.
• Assist with research activities by providing requested information from computerised databases or other sources.
• Provide reference services to library users by answering questions or referring them to appropriate resources.
• Supervise the work of library assistants according to established policies and procedures.
