Job summary

India Abroad in Abu-Dhabi UAE is seeking a Librarian to join our library team. The successful candidate will support staff and patrons, maintain the collection, and ensure that library operations run smoothly and efficiently. Salary is 1500 AED per month.

Immigrant applicants are welcome; Arabic language knowledge is an asset but not required. This position offers opportunities for training and career development within a friendly environment.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a public or academic library setting.
• Excellent customer service and strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of Library Information Systems is preferred but not required.
• Organized and able to multitask while meeting deadlines.
• Arabic language knowledge is an asset but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Cataloging items in the collection.
• Providing reference services to patrons in person, by phone, or email.
• Managing circulation activities such as issuing cards.
• Organizing reading clubs.
• Creating displays.
• Monitoring computer usage.
• Overseeing interlibrary loan services.
• Maintaining records of materials borrowed and returned.
• Training volunteers and interns.
• Supervising other staff members.
• Ordering new materials for the collection.
• Participating in outreach activities in local schools or community organizations.
