Job summary

India Abroad in Abu Dhabi is seeking a detail-oriented Librarian Assistant to support the librarian with cataloging, circulation, and patron services in a busy library. This full-time role includes maintaining the collection and helping plan displays and programs.

Ideal candidates are organized, customer-service oriented, able to work independently or as part of a team; English fluency is an asset, and a biometric passport is required for the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
• Previous experience working in a library setting is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Fluency in English is not required but is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist the librarian in cataloging, classifying, and organizing library materials
• Prepare and maintain library displays and exhibits
• Assist with circulation services such as checking out and returning books
• Help patrons locate materials and provide basic reference services
• Process new materials for circulation by labeling, covering, and stamping them
• Maintain an accurate inventory of library materials
• Ensure that library shelves are neatly organized and books are in their proper place
• Assist with collection development by recommending new materials for purchase
• Provide assistance with technology resources such as computers and printers
• Help plan and implement library programs for patrons of all ages
