Job description

Primarily responsible for all matters concerning the legal function within the organization and ensure legal compliance as per regional, industry regulations. Oversee the implementation of the organization's compliance policies and procedures through appropriate training and communication and, where necessary, recommend appropriate compliance policies and procedures for approval by relevant committees. Support implementation of Business compliance policies and procedures. Ensure effective management of compliance matters across the region working closely with the organization. Assume active involvement in problem-solving and crisis management over critical issues that have an impact on the bank's business/operations in all business locations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the implementation of the organization's compliance policies and procedures through appropriate training and communication.
• Where necessary, recommend appropriate compliance policies and procedures for approval by relevant committees.
• Support implementation of Business compliance policies and procedures.
• Ensure effective management of compliance matters across the region working closely with the organization.
• Assume active involvement in problem-solving and crisis management over critical issues that have an impact on the bank's business/operations in all business locations.
• Working with Business Compliance where necessary, in the event of serious regulatory breaches, or where risk tolerances have been breached, responsible for ensuring that the management is informed and that actions are taken quickly to remediate and/or activities are ceased.
• Ensure appropriate and effective risk based monitoring is conducted by Compliance across the business locations.
• Provide reports to the Top Management on key regulatory risks.
• Advice the Management on material Compliance issues as required and provide support to them on material compliance and regulatory risk issues to ensure that appropriate arrangements for meeting regulatory obligations and maintain high standards of conduct, in accordance with internal policies are established and monitored.
• Drive the institutionalization of regulatory relationships across all business locations and work with the Top Management to ensure effective Regulatory Relationship Plans are in place.
• Promote the migration of best practice and lessons learned across the group network.
• Crisis Management and Operational Risk management.
• Thorough local knowledge and relationship and communication with external lawyers, ensure that any information made on changes on local laws is conveyed to the management and the concerned, Middle East.
• Handle litigations on behalf of the organization and report litigations handled and resolved during the year.
• Capture any local legal risks and act on it.
• Defines responsibilities for establishing, maintaining and implementing the organization's high level systems and controls.
• Ensures credit management and compliance at all levels of business and monitors breaches and advices accordingly.
• Ensures that all checks and balances are done and maintained for all customers and suppliers and reports to the group for compliance on the same.

• 3 year Diploma is a must and Bachelor Degree is desirable.
• Relevant professional certification is a must.
