Job summary

The ministry of community empowerment invites applications for a Legal Research Officer to conduct legal research, prepare opinions, and provide recommendations to stakeholders to support informed decision-making.

The role requires handling internal and external legal requests, coordinating with authorities, maintaining records, and ensuring documentation and compliance across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law (or Master’s) with relevant law background.
• Legal research, analysis, and drafting opinions.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance matters.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and prepare studies, analyses, opinions, and recommendations on legal matters.
• Review and process legal requests from internal units and external entities.
• Coordinate with judicial and legal authorities regarding requirements for legal requests.
• Maintain accurate records of legal requests including employee and case information.
• Ensure all legal requests are documented with supporting documents and records updated.
• Coordinate technical and logistical needs to process and complete legal requests.
• Review requests submitted by units and external parties and update records timely.
• Provide information and documentation to legal and judicial authorities.
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

Job Purpose

Conduct legal research and studies, provide legal opinions and recommendations to relevant stakeholders, and analyze legal-related issues to support informed decision-making within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and prepare studies, analyses, opinions, and recommendations on legal matters.
• Review and process legal requests received from internal organizational units and external entities.
• Coordinate with judicial and legal authorities regarding requirements related to internal and external legal requests.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of legal requests, including relevant employee and case information.
• Ensure all legal requests are properly documented and that required supporting documents and records are maintained.
• Coordinate the provision of technical and logistical requirements necessary to process and complete legal requests.
• Review legal requests submitted by organizational units and external parties and ensure timely updates to the relevant records.
• Provide required information and documentation to relevant legal and judicial authorities.
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the direct supervisor.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Law with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or
• Master's degree in Law.
• Professional certifications or training in Commercial & Business Law and Legal Compliance are an advantage.
