Job summary

Technip Energies in the UAE, Abu Dhabi is seeking a Lead Weight Control Engineer reporting to the Head of the Department. The role requires extensive offshore weight control expertise and coordination with multiple disciplines across project phases.

You will develop procedures, weight budgets, and CoG envelopes, while coordinating with clients and vendors. Strong analytical skills and experience with MS-Excel, Power BI, and related tools are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Eng.
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in Offshore Oil and Gas projects
  • Minimum 10+ years of dedicated experience in Weight Control Reporting
  • Experience in developing and maintaining Weight Control Reports through all Project Phases
  • Experience in Fixed Offshore Platform Jacket & Topsides weight reporting; managing weight budgets and growth control

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Project Weight Control Procedure
  • Develop Weight Breakdown Structure
  • Establish Weight Contingency philosophy per Project phase
  • Develop and implement weight growth monitoring/tracking mechanisms
  • Evaluate CoG for all items and define CoG envelopes for design sensitive structures
  • Assess Lifting, Transportation and Installation CoG requirements
  • Coordinate with all disciplines for weight and CoG data and validate inputs
  • Review discipline deliverables and collect weight data
  • Review TQs, SQs and MOC related to weight impact
  • Participate in MOC reviews and identify weight impacts
  • Assess weight limiting scenarios and define NTE values
  • Support weight optimization initiatives
  • Prepare and issue Weight Control Reports, Status and Forecast ledgers
  • Coordinate with Marine Warranty Surveyor on weight related requirements
  • Develop weight databases

Qualifications

Experience
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in Offshore Oil and Gas Projects
  • Minimum 10+ years of dedicated experience in Weight Control Reporting activities
  • Experience in developing and maintaining Weight Control Reports throughout all Project Phases from Concept to EPC and for all applicable design phases (Loadout, Transportation, Lifting, Operating phases).
  • Experience in Fixed Offshore Platform Jacket & Topsides weight reporting; Proven experience in managing weight budgets and weight growth control on major Offshore Projects
  • Experience in Brownfield Projects
  • Experience in Offshore Bridges, Flare structures, Modules
  • Strong Inter discipline coordination, client interactions and interface management skills

  • Review various discipline deliverables (i.e., Structural MTO’s, Piping MTO’s, Vendor data, E&I layouts, HVAC layouts, Architectural drawings) and collect the weight data.
  • Review Technical Queries (TQs), Site Queries (SQs), and Management of Change (MOC) requests for weight impact.
  • Actively participate in Management of Change reviews and identity the weight impacts
  • Assess various weight limiting scenarios and define NTE values
  • Support weight optimization initiatives
  • Prepare and issue, Weight Control Repots, Weight status Reports, Weight growth Registers, Weight Forecast reports
  • Coordinate with Marine Warranty Surveyor on Weight related requirements
  • Develop weight databases

  • Familiarity with ADNOC, ARAMCO, and QP/QG Weight reporting practices
  • Experience in coordinating with Clients, PMC, Certifying authorities, MWS, Fabrication Contractors, Vendors, Installation Contractor.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary coordination involving Structural, Piping, Mechanical, E&I, HVAC, HSE, Architectural disciplines.
