Job summary

Wood is recruiting for a PMC HSE Design Technical Safety Specialist to support ADNOC Offshore in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role is based at the client office in Abu Dhabi and will involve coordinating with EPC contractors and IPMT teams on Technical Safety matters.

Ideal candidates have extensive oil and gas offshore experience, PMC exposure, and strong communication skills. Wood offers development plans and global opportunities within a diverse, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
  • 15+ years of experience in oil and gas upstream offshore
  • PMC experience highly preferable
  • Middle East / GCC experience in major projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant international codes and standards

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in all Technical Safety matters
  • Ensure design and engineering compliance with ADNOC standards
  • Coordinate Technical Safety design and engineering with EPC Contractor
  • Review and approve Engineering Consultant's and EPC Contractor's work for compliance
  • Provide technical assistance during installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning

Responsibilities:
Job Objective
  • Provide expertise in all Technical Safety matters
  • Ensure design and engineering compliance with relevant codes and ADNOC standards
  • Coordinate, Monitor and handle Technical Safety design and engineering with EPC Contractor as per project expectation and complete the same within the time frame
  • Work with other discipline engineers within IPMT, EPC Contractor, ADNOC Engineering / Operation / Site Interface to resolve technical issues and ensure quality Discipline Engineering execution and integrity etc.
  • Perform regular and timely technical reviews of Technical Safety deliverables developed by engineering consultants/contractors, ensuring design quality in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure integration of overall Technical Safety team. Overall coordination within IPMT Technical Safety Team
  • Ensure quality Technical Safety Engineering Consultant’s & EPC Contractor’s Technical Safety design activities
  • Review and approval of Engineering Consultant's and EPC Contractor’s work and ensure compliance with ADNOC project specifications, relevant codes and standards, and best industry practices
  • Coordinate the required engineering participation in the development and analysis of various design options and business models. Contribute input and expertise in the development and analysis of various design options and business models to design optimization and validation.
  • Participate in teams for equipment sizing / equipment selection considering optimization and standardization.
  • Ensure that the facilities are designed in accordance with the latest corporate guidelines with respect to environment and health aspects.
  • Ensure full utilization of the existing facilities while optimizing the facilities required for the new projects.
  • Participate in layout reviews, Model review, design reviews, and technical workshops.
  • Provide technical assistance and coordination with other discipline engineers.
  • Coordinate technical reviews and bid evaluation, and performance evaluation.
  • Provide technical assistance during installation, pre-commissioning & commissioning
  • Report to ADNOC Discipline Team Leader, Engineering Manager, and provide support to Project Managers and Engineers within the Project Management Team organization
  • Interface with Managers, Team Leaders and Engineers in Company's Technical Departments, Business Units, Operations Units, and Logistics Department
  • Interface regularly with Contractor’s Engineering and Project Management team and discipline engineers as and when required

Expected
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in oil and gas industry upstream offshore industry working for competitors’ organization such as Kent, KBR, Worley, Petrofac, Saipem
  • PMC experience is high preferable
  • Large projects experience is must. Middle East / GCC experience on projects with Saudi Aramco, Qatar Energy, PDO, etc. is a must
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent technical team and interpersonal skills
  • Experience and detailed knowledge of relevant international codes and standards
  • Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software
  • Ability to make independent decisions in the planning, organizing and coordinating to develop solutions to complex problems
