Wood is recruiting for a Lead Project Engineer to join our team in Sharjah, UAE. This is a full‑time office‑based role.
Role Overview
This Lead Project Engineer will be part of the Iraq Operations Business, contributing to the technical delivery of engineering excellence on major Brownfield oil & gas projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Executing assigned scopes of work, including planning, scheduling, and preparing documentation for projects.
- Ensuring successful completion of projects/ phases within budgeted time, cost and quality constraints.
- Participating in engineering approaches, investigations, and performance specification development.
- Checking engineering calculations and drawings against industry codes and standards.
- Providing guidance, technical leadership and mentoring for mid‑level technical staff.
- Participating in audits, incident investigations, design reviews and site visits.
- Managing small work groups, assigning tasks, preparing scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Maintaining compliance with HSSE and safety requirements in both office and site environments.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- B.Sc. or equivalent degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in major Brownfield oil & gas projects, with at least 5 years in a similar leadership position.
- Pre‑FEED/FEED, Detailed Engineering and design experience in the GCC region.
- Proficient in project planning, calculation templates and software relevant to the discipline.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and innovate solutions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and teamwork skills.
