Job summary

KBR Corporate – In-house Engineering in Abu Dhabi, UAE seeks a Lead Piping Designer (Offshore) with 20+ years in offshore piping design. The role requires traveling offshore on rotation, designing in Concept/FEED/Detail, and leading piping teams to deliver compliant, high-quality deliverables.

The ideal candidate has ADNOC/Qatar Energies exposure, subtle mentorship skills, and proficiency in PDMS/E3D/SP3D or AutoCAD Plant 3D. Strong safety and collaboration focus is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma or ITI in Piping and Mechanical Design.
• Proficiency in 2D drafting and 3D design tools (PDMS, E3D, SP3D or AutoCAD Plant 3D).
• 20+ years Offshore piping design experience in Oil & Gas.
• Experience with ADNOC & Qatar Energies.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform piping design scope for Concept, FEED and Detail Engineering phases.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and project specs.
• Provide engineering integrity, QA and document control for piping deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with multi-discipline teams and clients.
• Support field execution and site visits, including as-built documentation.
• Independently develop complex piping designs, equipment layouts, plot plans and GA drawings using 3D tools to generate isometric drawings.
• Review vendor drawings for compatibility with overall design.

Job Description- Lead Piping Designer

• Position Title: Lead Piping Designer

• Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE

Job Purpose

• Preference will be given to candidates holding valid OPITO-approved T-BOSIET/BOSIET and H₂S certifications with a minimum validity of six months. The selected candidate will be required to travel ADNOC offshore on a rotational basis to conduct site surveys, support brownfield assessments, verify existing installations, and obtain project-specific engineering data necessary for design and execution.


• Execute piping design activities within Concept, FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and Detail Engineering for Oil & Gas projects.


• Ensure high-quality, safe, and timely delivery of Piping design and related deliverables in accordance with project requirements, international codes, and standards.


• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and coordinate with multi-discipline teams and clients.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Independently perform the Piping design scope drawings for Concept, FEED and Detail Engineering phases.


• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards and project specifications.


• Ensure engineering integrity, quality assurance and document control for all Piping related deliverables.


• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, toolbox talks, and knowledge sharing.


• Support field execution and construction activities as needed, including site visits when required and as-built documentation.


• Independently developing complex piping designs, equipment layouts, plot plans, and general arrangement drawings. They utilize advanced 3D modeling software like E3D, SP3D, or AutoCAD to create detailed models and generate isometric drawings.


• Conducting site visits to verify / collect field data and assess project conditions.


• Review and provide comments on vendor drawings to ensure compatibility with the overall design.

Experience

• 20+ years of experience and proven track record in delivering Offshore piping deliverables in Concept, FEED and Detail Engineering and EPCM experience in the Oil & Gas industry.


• Experience with ADNOC & Qatar Energies


• Highly capable and efficient in preparing (hands-on) all Piping engineering drawings independently and simultaneously working on multiple projects. Owns assigned tasks with high degree of responsibility. Flexibility & adaptability to maneuver dynamic and evolving project environment.


• Carried out visits to Offshore facilities


• Carried out Brownfield projects in offshore facilities.


• Experience in Preparing Plot plans, Key plans, Piping GA and other Piping deliverables


• Experience in Production Facilities, Well pads & Pipelines, CPF, Production Platforms and Gas Plants.

Education & Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma or ITI in Piping and Mechanical Design


• Relevant 2D and 3D software proficiency (PDMS, E3D, SP3D, or AutoCAD Plant 3D)

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of drafting standards and industry applicable norms.


• Proficient in relevant codes and standards


• Experience with 3D design and visualization tools and 2D drafting.
