Wood is recruiting for a Lead Electrical Engineer to join its UAE Business Unit. The role focuses on assigned electrical engineering work scopes for a Major Onshore Brownfield Project in Sharjah, UAE, and is a full‑time office‑based position.

Key Objectives
  • Assume sole responsibility for assigned electrical engineering work scopes.
  • Perform assurance reviews of electrical packages and detailed design documents from third‑party EPC contractors.
  • Execute detailed design work for field development of oil and gas production facilities.
  • Plan, budget, organise and control a segment of the electrical engineering deliverables.
  • Prepare electrical deliverables for all phases of the project.
  • Ensure quality and schedule compliance of all work.
  • Provide technical guidance on all electrical engineering queries.
  • Coordinate with the client’s engineering, operations and maintenance staff.
  • Offer sound technical advice on a variety of problems.
  • Co‑ordinate with other disciplines throughout design, construction, pre‑commissioning and start‑up.
  • Assist in aligning all activities related to electrical engineering design.
  • Promote safe behaviour at all times.
  • Identify progress or quality concerns and recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Specialist experience with 132kV overhead transmission line and switchgear design, including site installation support.
  • Experience with primary/secondary substation design to 6.6kV and site installation support.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Minimum 6 years proven capability in an engineering design company.
  • Experience in EHAZOP, ETAP, HAZOP, HAZID and SIL rating studies.
  • Experience working with multi‑national and multi‑cultural project teams.
  • Prior experience in the Middle East is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with common software packages used in electrical engineering design.
  • Thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards.
  • Membership of a recognised professional institute is preferred.
