Job summary

FIVE Hotels and Resorts in Dubai seeks a Senior Backend Developer to lead design, development, and maintenance of robust backend systems. You will mentor a team of four, collaborate with frontend and transformation teams, and optimize server-side performance for scalable digital solutions.

The role requires 5-7 years of backend experience and strong expertise in Node.js, Python, Java, or Ruby on Rails, with databases like MySQL/PostgreSQL/MongoDB, and cloud services (AWS/Google Cloud/Azure).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (master’s preferred).
• Minimum of 5-7 years of backend development experience.
• Proficiency in backend technologies such as Node.js, Python, Java, or Ruby on Rails.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• Strong knowledge of API design and development, including RESTful and GraphQL.
• Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Expertise in implementing database security and code security to prevent hacking, SQL injection, and other cyber threats.
• Familiarity with security best practices including encryption, authentication, and access control.
• Experience in identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities, and ensuring systems are secure by design.
• Knowledge of version control systems like Git.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience in microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools like Docker, Kubernetes.
• Previous experience in the real estate or hospitality sectors is a plus.
• Knowledge of security best practices and data protection.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust backend systems and services.
• Manage and mentor a team of 4 developers, providing technical direction, support, and performance feedback.
• Collaborate closely with front-end developers, UX/UI designers, and the Digital Transformation team to deliver high-quality digital solutions.
• Optimize application performance, ensuring responsiveness and scalability of server-side logic.
• Integrate with third-party APIs and develop RESTful services.
• Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code, adhering to best practices and industry standards.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and provide technical guidance to the team.
• Manage and optimize databases, ensuring data security, integrity, and performance.
• Implement database and code security practices to prevent cyber threats such as hacking and SQL injection.
• Identify technical challenges and devise innovative solutions for continuous improvement.
• Participate in the architecture design of digital products and solutions.
• Stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends, recommending and implementing relevant updates.
