Role Overview
Supports the delivery of master planning and urban development work by helping senior designers and planners translate project ideas into clear studies, diagrams, collages, sketches, layouts, reports, and presentations. Contributes to local, regional, and strategic planning assignments through research, design thinking, graphics production, and technical support, aiding project teams in presenting urban ideas clearly and supporting better planning decisions for future development in Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing urban planning studies for local, regional, and strategic development projects.
- Support the development of master plans, conceptual design options, illustrative layouts, and planning diagrams.
- Produce graphics for master planning deliverables, incl. diagrams, collages, sketches, visual studies, and presentation materials.
- Carry out urban design tasks, planning research, and basic spatial analysis under guidance of experienced professionals.
- Assist in preparing technical inputs for high‑quality plans, reports, design narratives, and client presentations.
- Support the review of project context, urban form, land use, connectivity, public realm, development character, and planning opportunities.
- Help convert research findings and design ideas into clear visual material for internal reviews and external submissions.
- Work with senior team members to develop design concepts that respond to project goals, site conditions, and planning requirements.
- Contribute to graphic communication that improves the clarity and quality of master planning outputs.
- Prepare drawing and presentation content using AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and related design tools.
- Support 3D visualization and massing studies using Rhino, SketchUp, or similar software when required.
- Coordinate with planners, architects, urban designers, engineers, and other technical team members during project development.
- Maintain organized design files, drawings, graphic assets, and project documentation.
- Follow project instructions, design standards, deadlines, and quality expectations set by senior designers.
- Participate in team discussions and design reviews with a proactive approach and willingness to learn.
- Apply current urban design best practices to support practical, creative, and context‑sensitive planning outcomes.
- Communicate ideas clearly through written notes, verbal updates, sketches, layouts, and presentation graphics.
Ideal Profile / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in conceptual design, illustrative layouts, urban planning, architecture, or master planning support.
- Experience preparing diagrams, collages, sketches, layouts, and design presentation material.
- Strong creative thinking with interest in urban development, public realm, city planning, and future‑focused design.
- Understanding of current urban planning and urban design best practices.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Good writing and oral communication skills for reports, presentations, and team coordination.
- Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or a related discipline is an advantage.
- Knowledge of 3D modelling software such as Rhino or SketchUp is preferred.
- Ability to perform well in a team environment with a proactive attitude and sense of ownership.
- Strong attention to detail when preparing graphics, layouts, reports, and presentation boards.
- Willingness to learn from senior designers and planners while contributing fresh design ideas.
- Organized approach to design production, file management, deadlines, and project support.
- Ability to work on different types of urban development projects and adapt to changing project needs.
