Job summary

Keka Technologies Private Limited in Dubai, UAE, seeks a Junior Quantity Surveyor to support the QS team in cost estimation, measurement, and contract administration. You will assist in preparing BOQs, cost plans, and tender documentation while coordinating data with design teams and site engineers.

The role emphasizes learning under Senior QS guidance, applying FIDIC contracts, and contributing to cost reports and project finance summaries. A 2+ year background in QS is expected.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Quantity Surveying or Engineering (Civil /MEP)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering (Civil /MEP)
  • Minimum of 2+ years in the related field.
  • Proven experience in tendering and Design & Build environments.
  • Extensive understanding of building pathology, construction technology, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications using standard methods of measurement (e.g., POMI, NRM).
  • Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and cost breakdowns for tender or cost planning purposes.
  • Check and verify measurement data provided by contractors or suppliers or consultant.
  • Support in preparing cost estimates, cost plans, and budget summaries at different design stages.
  • Collect and update market rate information for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining cost databases.
  • Help in compiling tender documentation, including BOQs, pricing schedules, and preambles.
  • Assist in receiving, recording, and organizing tender submissions.
  • Support the evaluation of bids by preparing preliminary comparison sheets.
  • Assist in reviewing contractor payment applications and verifying work done on site.
  • Support in preparing interim payment certificates under senior QS guidance.
  • Record and track variations, claims, and change orders for ongoing projects.
  • Help in maintaining up-to-date cost reports and financial summaries.
  • Maintain organized project files, including drawings, correspondence, and cost data.
  • Prepare draft reports, spreadsheets, and presentations for senior QS review.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all cost-related activities for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Coordinate with design teams, project managers, and site engineers for data collection.
  • Attend project meetings (when required) and take minutes for commercial discussions.
  • Support clear communication between the QS team and other project stakeholders.
  • Work closely under the supervision of Senior QS and Managing QS to develop technical skills.
  • Learn and apply relevant contract forms (e.g., FIDIC) and cost management procedures.
  • Participate in internal training sessions, CPDs, and on-the-job learning.
  • Assist in preparing cash flow forecasts, progress reports, and final account summaries.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to cost and contract management.
  • Contribute to the overall efficiency of the QS department by supporting team priorities.

The Junior Quantity Surveyor (Jr. QS) plays a supporting role within the Quantity Surveying team, assisting senior team members in cost estimation, measurement, contract administration, and project reporting activities, in alignment with Land Sterling standards. This position also ensures adherence to industry best practices and applicable local regulations.
