A marine engineering company in Abu Dhabi seeks a Cost Estimator to assist in delivering cost estimations for tenders. Responsibilities
- Assist the Senior Cost Estimator in delivering thorough, independent, and complete cost estimations for tenders.
- Collect all relevant information needed from the production estimator, design engineer, tender manager, and/or from site visits.
- Process all gathered data into clear and cost-optimal budgets and cost estimates, including planning and work sequencing.
- Regularly consult with colleagues from the commercial department and the project manager about costs.
- Assess proposals/prices from sub-contractors and suppliers.
- Ensure gathered data and budget information are maintained, and knowledge is transferred to project management and the commercial department.
- Assist in preparing tender/quotation documents for tendering purposes.
- Ensure maintenance of a database containing prices/quotes from sub-contractors.
- Closely collaborate with the senior cost estimator, production estimator, colleagues from the commercial department, and the tender manager.
- Study and analyze bids/tenders both technically and commercially; write scope clarifications.
- Identify risks, opportunities, and assumptions made within the cost estimation.
- Apply technical skills with thorough knowledge of estimating principles.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role within the industry.
- Experience in dredging and marine projects is highly preferred.
