• Maintain strict double-entry bookkeeping ensuring ledger accuracy.
• Reconcile supplier ledgers and verify invoices against GRNs.
• Support audits with organized financial records.

Job description

We are looking for a detail‑oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our growing retail team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our daily financial operations, focusing heavily on accurate data entry into QuickBooks, managing Point of Sale (POS) closings, and ensuring precise cash handling within a strict double-entry accounting environment.

Key Responsibilities

• QuickBooks Data Entry – Efficiently record daily financial transactions, accounts payable, receivable, and journal entries into QuickBooks Desktop for monthly financial reporting.
• POS Closings Reconciliation – Oversee and verify daily counter POS cash closings matching physical cash, card receipts and digital payments against system-generated reports.
• Cash Handling – Monitor daily cash inflows/outflows, handle safe custody balances and prepare secure bank deposits.
• Double-Entry Environment – Maintain strict adherence to double‑entry bookkeeping principles ensuring all debits and credits balance accurately across ledgers.
• Supplier Inventory Support – Assist in reconciling supplier ledgers and cross‑checking purchase invoices with Goods Received Notes (GRN).
• Audit Support – Maintain well‑organized digital and physical financial records to assist with internal and external audits.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands‑on accounting experience strictly within a retail or hyper‑market environment.
• Software Skills: High proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop preferred, and capabilities in Microsoft Excel including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables etc.
• Core Knowledge: Solid understanding of UAE accounting principles, double‑entry system and basic awareness of FTA VAT regulations.
• Attributes: High level of integrity, sharp analytical skills and ability to work under pressure during peak retail hours.
• Availability: Candidates currently residing in the UAE and available to join immediately or within a short notice period will be prioritized.
