Job summary

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank PJSC is seeking an IT Operations Engineer (Outsource) in Abu Dhabi to monitor the IT Back Office, support on-shift operators, and execute daily Start/End of Day procedures for Core Banking and Branch Automation. The role requires 4–5 years in IT, with emphasis on operations, backups, security, and incident handling.

The position involves DR/BCP participation, environment monitoring in Data Centers, vendor coordination, and adherence to bank IT policies.

Qualifications

• Basic IT infrastructure knowledge required.
• 4 or 5 years IT experience (preferred in IT Operations).

Responsibilities

• Monitor performance of on-shift operators and provide assistance as needed.
• Educate System Operators on roles, responsibilities and authority.
• Execute daily operation tasks (Start of Day & End of Day) of the IT Back Office (Core Banking and Branch Automation).
• Monitor IT Systems for known problems and abnormal behavior and escalate with seniors to reduce downtime.
• Execute backup operations of all systems.
• Enhance existing operational procedures; involved in DR and BCP activities.
• Participate in the implementation of operation procedures and controls related to Banking Applications; elevate major problems to specialists.
• Enhance End of Day processing controls to minimize risk and improve performance of daily/monthly/quarterly processes.
• Supervise daily/monthly backups per policy; coordinate with vendors for preventive maintenance.
• Monitor environment in Data Centers; alert management for interruptions; ensure authorized access.
• Coordinate with Hardware Vendors and Engineers for maintenance and report activities to IT Operations Team Leader and System Engineers.
• Check Call Center, ATMs, Switches, SMS, Card Center and other delivery channels; generate reports and report problems to the system engineer; escalate ATM issues to Vendor if needed.
• Initiate and document incidents related to systems’ availability and performance and escalate to departments within IT Division.
• Maintain and update documented processes related to the job function; inform owners of required changes.
• Provide progress reports on tasks, projects, incidents and ad hoc requirements.
• Implement automation for responsibilities after approval.
• Adhere to ITD and bank policies; report weaknesses/risks and incidents.
• Generate Monthly Statements, converting, encrypting them and sending to EDC for printing.
• Maintain information security; report risks or incidents to helpdesk.

Role : IT Operations Engineer (Outsource)

Location : Abu Dhabi

Role Purpose:

Monitor Performance of On-Shift Operators and providing assistance when needed.

To educate the System Operators regarding their roles, responsibility and authority.

To execute the daily operation tasks (Start of Day & End of Day) of the IT Back Office (Core Banking and Branch Automation) as designed by the IT Operations manual.

To monitor the IT Systems for known problems and abnormal behavior and get involved with the seniors to resolve them and reduce downtime.

To execute backup operations of all systems.

Enhance existing operational procedure.

Involved in DR and BCP activities.

Key Accountabilities of the role:

Banking Systems Support:

To participate in the implementation of all operation procedures and control related to Banking Applications and elevate major problems to the concerned specialist.

End of Day Processing Controls:

Work closely with IT Management to enhance controls in existing operation task to minimize risk of mistake and enhance performance of daily / monthly and Quarter End processes.

Backup of the Systems:

To perform supervision of daily, monthly and infinite backup tapes as per ADIB Backup Policy.

System Monitoring and Maintenance

• To monitor environmental conditions in the Data Centers.
• To inform and alert Manager and concerned Staff for any interruption in services due to Hardware or Software problems.
• To ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed access to the data centers and report any attempted unauthorized access to the designated Security Officer.
• To assist in monitoring the performance of all Computer Systems using tools and utilities.
• To coordinate with Hardware Vendors and Engineers in the preventive maintenance and ensure that those are performed in a timely manner. Report such activities to the IT Operations Team Leader and System Engineers.

ATM, SMS, Call Center and other Delivery Channels:

• To check the Call Center, ATMs, Switches, SMS, Card Center and other delivery channels and generate required reports for different departments and report any problems to the related system engineer.
• To take care of ATM related problems and elevate it to the Vendor if needed.

Initiate and document all incidents related to the systems’ availability and performance and escalating it to the different departments within the IT Division.

Documentation / Process Ownership

The incumbent is responsible to take ownership, maintain & update documented processes or documentation related to his job function. In the event where processes or documentation are shared, the incumbent shall be responsible to inform the owner of any document about required changes or improvements.

Reports:

Provide progress report on timely manner, including tasks, projects, incidents and ad hoc requirements.

Automation:

Implement automation required for performing the responsibilities and targets after getting the appropriate approval.

Adhere to ITD and bank's policies, procedures:

including but not limited to reporting, internal and external processes, security, report immediately any potential / actual weaknesses / risks and incidents that noticed or observed.

Monthly Customers Statements:

Generate Monthly Statements, converting, encrypting them and sending to EDC for printing.

Information Security:

• Maintain information security related to ADIB, throughout the period of employment.
• Report any potential or actual risks or incidents affecting the security of information to the helpdesk.

Specialist Skills / Technical Knowledge Required for this role:

Basic IT Infrastructure knowledge is required.
