Job summary

Thales Abu Dhabi is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to contribute to specification, design, implementation and support of IT infrastructure in UAE projects.

The role involves collaborating with DevOps and Test teams, preparing BOMs and installation procedures, reviewing drawings, coordinating with suppliers, and participating in Agile ceremonies to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• BSc in computer science or equivalent qualification.
• Qualifications in IT Infrastructure subsystems (network, datacenter, virtualization, software integration etc.).
• Preferred certifications in VMware and Linux system administration.
• Must have high fluency in spoken and written English.
• French and/or Arabic would be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Deliver IT infrastructure design and implementation documents (requirements, high-level and low-level designs).
• Work with DevOps and Integration & Test teams to define specifications for implementation.
• Interface with suppliers and subcontractors: hardware specs, RFQ, delivery and tests.
• Lead engineering activities through the design lifecycle and site installations.
• Prepare training materials and participate in technical meetings.

Title : IT/HW Engineer (UAE Nationals only)
Location : Abu Dhabi ( Tawazun Industrial Park )

Objective : The IT Infrastructure Engineer contributes in the specification design implementation testing and support of the IT infrastructure in assigned projects within the UAE.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Responsible for the delivery of project deliverables concerning the IT Infrastructure (system requirements high-level and low level design documents requests for quotation to suppliers interface documents installation and maintenance procedures test procedures and reports)

Activities

• analyze user and system requirements derive and specify requirements for the IT and HW infrastructure
• work with the DevOps and Integration & Test teams to define the specifications for the implementation
• work with CAD team to provide inputs and review for: single-line wiring and installation drawings
• interface with suppliers and subcontractors
  • define hardware specifications
  • request for quotation
  • requirements and scope of work for subcontractors and suppliers
  • follow-up production acceptance tests delivery
  • obsolescence management
• present requirements and specifications of implementation to the Infrastructure team
• peer review of requirements specifications test procedures and manuals (user administration maintenance)
• participate in Agile ceremonies (Sprint planning & Review Daily Retrospective)
• Prepare Bill of Materials and Definition files (electrical drawing mechanical drawings)
• Follow up procurement of COTS
• prepare training materials and conduct training to peers and customers
• attend site survey visits and prepare site survey reports
• define test procedures and conduct hardware and installation acceptance tests
• specify requirements and supervise hardware and safety audits
• participate in internal and customer technical meetings

Work Experience requirements

• 5 years experience in a technical design capacity (IT/HW engineering) hardware engineering and engineering development lifecycles
  • Experience in integration with radio communication systems (VHF/UHF communications)
  • Proven experience in leading engineering activity through design lifecycle and platform installation preferably in military or defence industry
  • Understanding of EMC fundamentals low voltage directive CE marking
• Working experience in the following domains: server storage virtualization network
  • Experience in implementing IT security controls (endpoint protection PKI server hardening network security VM security)
  • Experience in the full IT Infrastructure project lifecycle: requirements design implementation installation test and handover

Qualification and Educational Requirements

• BSc in computer science or equivalent qualification
• Qualifications in IT Infrastructure subsystems (network communication datacenter virtualization software integration etc.)
• Preferred certifications in VMware Linux System Administration
• Must have high fluency in spoken and written English
• French and/or Arabic would be an added advantage
