Job summary

Wood in the United Arab Emirates is seeking graduates and engineers (0-10 years) to design, develop, review, and implement instrumentation and control systems for oil and gas facilities. You will produce instrument deliverables, participate in FAT/SAT, and coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Piping teams.

Roles span early to senior levels, including FEED, Detailed Design, Brownfield/Greenfield, and Operations, with mentorship to junior engineers and strict compliance with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Internship or project experience in Oil & Gas or EPC industries is an advantage.
• 4-10 years of experience in Instrumentation & Control Engineering within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, Refinery, Offshore, Power, or EPC projects.
• Experience in FEED, Detailed Design, Brownfield, Greenfield, EPC, or Operations environments is highly preferred.
• Understanding of Instrument Datasheets, Instrument Index, Loop Diagrams, Control Narratives, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Cable schedules, Hook-Up Diagrams
• Knowledge of IEC, ISA, API, IEEE, NFPA, SIL, Functional Safety Standards

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of instrumentation and control systems for oil and gas facilities.
• Support preparation and review of instrument datasheets, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Develop instrument index, I/O lists, cause & effect charts, and control philosophies.
• Assist in reviewing P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, and control system architecture.
• Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Piping disciplines.
• Participate in site surveys, inspections, and technical meetings.
• Ensure compliance with company HSE, quality, and engineering standards.
• Perform detailed engineering and design activities for instrumentation and control systems on Oil & Gas projects.
• Prepare and review instrumentation deliverables including specifications, datasheets, instrument index, cable schedules, and logic diagrams.
• Develop control system architecture for DCS, PLC, ESD, SCADA, and F&G systems.
• Review vendor packages and provide technical bid evaluations.
• Support procurement activities and resolve technical queries from vendors and contractors.
• Participate in HAZOP, SIL, Design Reviews, and Constructability Reviews.
• Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues during project execution and operations.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable international standards.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

For Graduate and Engineers (0-3 Years)

• Assist in the design and development of instrumentation and control systems for oil and gas facilities.
• Support the preparation and review of instrument datasheets, specifications, and technical documentation.

• Ensure compliance with company HSE, quality, and engineering standards.

For Engineers (4-10 Years)

• Develop control system architecture for DCS, PLC, ESD, SCADA, and F&G systems.
