Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a project manager with a background in electrical instrumentation and control to be based in Abu Dhabi.

Project Manager - Nuclear

Location: Abu Dhabi – Site Based

Employment Type: Permanent / Full-Time

Role Purpose

The Project Manager will lead the planning and delivery of engineering and maintenance projects on a major nuclear facility. The role ensures all scope is clearly defined and controlled, risks and interfaces are managed, and delivery is executed safely, compliantly and to the performance standards required in a nuclear operating environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of nuclear engineering and maintenance projects from initiation to close-out
• Develop and maintain project baselines (scope, schedule, cost, risk, change, quality)
• Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, operations, procurement, vendors and scheduling teams
• Ensure full compliance with nuclear safety, licensing, QA/QC and configuration control requirements
• Lead readiness reviews, stakeholder governance forums and performance reporting
• Manage project risks, interfaces, issues and change with appropriate escalation/mitigation
• Support procurement and vendor mobilisation for nuclear-qualified equipment and services
• Drive continuous improvement in project execution discipline, documentation and stakeholder alignment

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Track record of delivering projects within the nuclear sector (new build, operations, outage, lifetime extension or decommissioning)
• Strong coordination experience across engineering, maintenance, operations and supply chain interfaces
• Ability to interpret nuclear standards, plant documentation and controlled engineering information
• Demonstrated competence in schedule, cost, risk and change control
• HNC/HND or degree in an engineering or technical discipline (I&C / Electrical / Mechanical advantageous)
• Strong safety culture, procedural discipline and documentation quality
• Experience with project controls and/or work management tools (e.g. Primavera P6, SAP/Maximo, formal risk registers)

Desirable Attributes

• Experience working on an operating nuclear site or within outage/shutdown windows
• Familiarity with nuclear vendor/OEM coordination and qualification requirements
• Professional PM accreditation (PMP, APM, IPMA) desirable but not essential
