About the job

Based at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Engineering Department, the HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units, including associated air handling, chilled water distribution, refrigeration, and environmental control systems. The role involves planning individual jobs as well as long-term operations, developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring the quality of all repair work. The responsibilities also include installing smaller air-conditioning systems, modifying existing systems, reviewing plans and specifications for contracted work, and inspecting the work of external contractors. The HVAC Technician reports to the Assistant Manager - Maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain and monitor all HVAC and related equipment within the hotel
  • Prepare and execute preventive maintenance schedules
  • Maintain plant rooms and equipment premises in safe and presentable condition
  • Retrieve, complete, and close work orders as per HotSoS procedures
  • Identify and report the need for major repairs
  • Maintain, repair, check, and record equipment including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation, pumps, motors, and CCU/VRF/split AC units
  • Ensure safe working conditions, follow Lockout/Tagout and PTW procedures
  • Maintain records of work, P/M schedules, and update work order logs; communicate status to Engineering control desk
  • Coordinate with contractors and other departments for installations, repairs, and smooth operations
  • Operate Building Automation Systems (BAS) and assemble components to required standards
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in the same role in luxury property, resort experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and preventive maintenance practices
  • Strong ability to resolve engineering issues using both theoretical and practical knowledge
  • Good understanding of hotel operations and general civil works
  • Proficient in predictive maintenance and the use of maintenance software applications
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English
