Job summary

Amentum is seeking an HVAC Technician to perform preventative maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment under a USAF contract at a UAE site. Under general direction, you will execute routine tasks and follow detailed procedures for HVACR maintenance.

Responsibilities include servicing steam heating systems, installing and repairing HVAC systems, changing filters, mounting compressors, and ensuring compliance with refrigerant management and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of job-related experience.
• Must obtain and maintain facility credentials; US citizenship required for this location.
• Five years experience in HVAC AFSC/MOS or prior military service with required credentials.
• NATE certification or ECC, or HVAC training with 2608 and 609 certification, or EPA Universal CFC/HCFC Refrigerant Processing Certificate.
• Copper brazing qualification.
• Forklift Class III certification and Powered Industrial Truck training.
• Must be qualified to work on USAF systems or have 3 years of USAF experience.
• Valid state driver license to operate government vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance of high‑ and low‑pressure steam heating systems as instructed.
• Install, service, and repair HVACR systems as instructed.
• Check belts and replace filters as required.
• Mount compressors and condenser units with associated equipment.
• Perform minor maintenance on HVACR equipment per instructions.
• Provide preventive maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment in various facilities including TFS shelters.
• Adhere to refrigerant management and environmental regulations.
• Maintain HVAC systems per ANSI/ASHRAE standards.
• Support safety, quality, and procedural compliance.

Job Title

HVAC Technician

Purpose and Scope

This position will perform various activities to provide preventative maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment as outlined in the requirements of a USAF contract. Under general direction and/or using detailed procedures and/or work instructions, perform simple and routine tasks or tests within, but not necessarily limited to, the area of HVACR maintenance work.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist with or perform maintenance of high‑ and low‑pressure steam heating system as instruction allows.
• Assist with or perform installation, servicing, and repairing of systems as instruction allows.
• Check belts and change filters as required.
• Mount compressor and condenser units on associated auxiliary equipment and components.
• Perform minor maintenance using oral and/or written instructions on HVACR equipment as qualified and licensed.
• Perform other site support tasks incidental to the HVACR maintenance task assigned.
• Provide preventive maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment—including chillers, air handlers, ductwork, thermostats, package units, refrigerants, pump houses, and associated components—in various types of facilities including tension fabric shelters (TFS) at the assigned military base.
• Adhere to the base’s refrigerant management program to monitor and record refrigerant use, storage, and disposal of all refrigerant types IAW Clean Air Act and the OEBGD.
• Properly dispose of all HVAC equipment refrigerant in accordance with CENTCOM and host‑nation environmental regulations.
• Maintain and inspect all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in accordance with ANSI/ASHRAE.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least three (3) years of job‑related experience or equivalent.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization; US citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
• Minimum of a verified five (5) years’ experience and/or five (5) years prior military service in the HVAC AFSC/MOS with the following credentials:
• North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification or Eurovent Certita Certification (ECC), or any international equivalent HVAC‑trained certificate, 2608 and 609 certification, or the EPA Universal CFC/HCFC Refrigerant Processing Certificate, Copper brazing qualified.
• 410K/Forklift Class III 2000‑10,000 lbs. certified and 5Powered Industrial Truck‑skid‑steer loader operators training certified.
• Fully qualified to work on the USAF systems they are assigned to work on or must have previously obtained at least a USAF 5‑level certification equivalent and possess at least 3 years of experience.
• Maintain a valid state driver license and be qualified to operate government general‑purpose vehicles.
