Job description

WSP are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in ensuring the safety and environmental compliance of an infrastructure construction supervision project based in Abu Dhabi.

As an HSE Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining robust health, safety, and environmental programs on our construction supervision project. Your primary objective will be to create and maintain a safe working environment, prevent accidents, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Responsibilities
  • HSE Program Development: Develop, implement, and continuously improve health, safety, and environmental programs, policies, and procedures tailored to the infrastructure construction supervision project.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments, hazard identification, and job safety analyses to proactively identify potential safety and environmental risks.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental laws, regulations, and industry standards in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
  • Safety Training: Provide safety training and orientation to project personnel, including contractors and subcontractors, to promote a safety-conscious work culture.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, near misses, and environmental concerns, implementing corrective actions and preventative measures.
  • Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, conduct drills, and ensure the availability of necessary safety equipment.
  • Safety Audits: Conduct regular site safety audits and inspections, identifying areas of non-compliance and implementing corrective actions.
  • Environmental Management: Monitor environmental aspects of the project, including waste management, pollution prevention, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of safety and environmental documentation, including incident reports, safety meeting minutes, and safety data sheets.
  • Safety Reporting: Prepare and deliver regular safety and environmental reports to project stakeholders and regulatory authorities as required.
  • Promote Safety Culture: Promote a strong safety culture by engaging with project teams, conducting safety meetings, and encouraging reporting of safety concerns.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a leading HSE role, with a strong background in construction projects.
  • Must have Abu Dhabi experience.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent HSE certifications are highly desirable.
  • Thorough knowledge of Abu Dhabi health, safety, and environmental regulations and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety management systems.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Fluent in English.
