Job summary

voco in Dubai is seeking a Housekeeping Intern to ensure rooms and suites remain fresh and welcoming after busy shifts. You’ll contribute to a comfortable guest experience by supporting daily room cleaning, linen handling, and guest service tasks in line with IHG standards.

The role involves following shift briefs, managing tasks through the Message Box Application, and upholding high cleanliness and safety standards across guestrooms and public areas.

Responsibilities

• Attend shift briefing, receive daily room assignments, and sign in for master keys.
• Keep trolley organized, clean, and stocked with linen, supplies, amenities, and cleaning chemicals.
• Clean all assigned guestrooms according to daily requirements and IHG standards.
• Update room statuses in real time through the Message Box Application (Cleaned, DND, Refused Service, Sleep Out, Out of Order, etc.).
• Acknowledge, action, and close tasks and guest requests via the Message Box Application within service standards.
• Make beds and change linen to ensure cleanliness and presentation.
• Maintain cleanliness of guestrooms, bathrooms, balconies, corridors, and service areas.
• Report maintenance defects, damages, safety hazards, or guest concerns to Floor Supervisor and update accordingly.
• Report any room status discrepancies to Floor Supervisor.
• Follow up on DND and Refused Service rooms and keep statuses updated.
• Complete all tasks and update statuses in the Message Box Application on completion.
• Report lost and found items via Message Box Application; hand over valuables to Floor Supervisor or Security.
• Exercise care with guests’ belongings and maintain hygiene in linen rooms, pantries, and service areas.
• Ensure guest corridors and public areas are clean and presentable at all times.
• Assist with deep cleaning programs and special cleaning assignments as required.
• Follow hotel policies on fire, hygiene, health, safety, security and company rules.
• Use housekeeping equipment responsibly (trolleys, vacuums, carpet machines, Message Box).
• Maintain control of guest supplies, linen, chemicals to minimize waste and costs.
• Attend training sessions and briefings; update knowledge of facilities, services, and promotions.
• Protect guest privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• At end of shift, update all tasks and return keys to Security.

Your day to day

As a Housekeeping Intern – you’ll make sure our rooms and suites are always ‘fresh and welcoming’ for our guests after a busy day at work – creating a haven for them to escape and relax in - or get a bit oflast-minutework done.

Your responsibilities are:

• Attend shift briefing, receive daily room assignments through the Message Box Application, and sign in for master keys.
• Keep trolley organized, clean, and fully stocked with linen, guest supplies, amenities, and cleaning chemicals at all times.
• Clean all assigned guestrooms according to the day's requirements and in compliance with IHG Way of Clean standards and hotel procedures.
• Ensure all room statuses are updated accurately and in real time through the Message Box Application, including Cleaned, DND, Refused Service, Sleep Out, Out of Order, Out of Service, and any other applicable status.
• Acknowledge, action, and close all assigned tasks, guest requests, and service orders through the Message Box Application within the established service standards.
• When making beds and changing linen, ensure all linen items are clean, well-presented, free from stains, tears, or damage.
• Ensure guestrooms, bathrooms, balconies, corridors, and assigned service areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standard.
• Immediately report any maintenance defects, damages, safety hazards, unusual observations, or guest concerns to the Floor Supervisor and update them through the Message Box Application where applicable.
• Immediately report any room status discrepancies to the Floor Supervisor.
• Follow up on DND and Refused Service rooms in accordance with hotel procedures and ensure the status is accurately updated in the Message Box Application.
• Ensure all assigned rooms and tasks are completed and updated in the Message Box Application upon completion.
• Immediately report any lost and found through message box application with the item details any valuable items must be handed over to the Floor Supervisor or Security office in accordance with hotel procedures.
• Exercise extreme care and integrity when handling guests' belongings and valuable items found in guestrooms.
• Maintain linen rooms, pantries, and service areas in a clean, organized, and hygienic condition at all times.
• Ensure guest corridors, lift landings, and assigned public areas are maintained in a clean and presentable condition.
• Execute any additional tasks and assist with special projects as instructed by the Housekeeping Supervisor, Senior Housekeeping Supervisor, or Housekeeping Management, including deep cleaning programs and special cleaning assignments.
• Ensure hotel policies relating to fire, hygiene, health, safety, security, and company rules and regulations are understood and followed at all times.
• Use all housekeeping equipment and systems responsibly, including but not limited to trolleys, vacuum cleaners, carpet machines, and the Message Box Application.
• Ensure the proper use and control of guest supplies, amenities, linen, and chemicals to minimize wastage and control costs.
• Attend training sessions, departmental meetings, and briefings as required.
• Continuously update knowledge of hotel facilities, services, promotions, and activities and provide accurate information to guests when required.
• Ensure guest privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
• At the end of the shift, ensure all assigned tasks and room statuses are accurately updated in the Message Box Application, return keys to the Security cabin and sign off duty.
