Job summary

InterContinental Fujairah Resort is seeking a Housekeeping Intern to support daily cleaning of rooms and public areas while learning hotel operations.

You will assist the housekeeping team, prepare rooms for check-in, and maintain high cleanliness standards. Ideal candidates are enrolled in Hospitality Management, with strong attention to detail and teamwork, and flexibility for shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in or recently completed a hospitality management program.
• Previous housekeeping exposure or training is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness required.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Physically capable of long shifts and lifting as needed.

Responsibilities

• Learn and assist in the daily cleaning of guest rooms, public areas, and facilities.
• Prepare rooms for guest check-in including beds, vacuuming, restocking amenities.
• Assist in quick turnover of rooms while meeting cleanliness standards.
• Stock and organize housekeeping carts.
• Participate in daily team briefings and understand tasks for the day.
• Respond to housekeeping requests and deliver extra amenities as needed.
• Collaborate with maintenance and front desk to address guest concerns.
• Follow safety guidelines for cleaning chemicals and waste disposal.
• Anticipate guests' needs and acknowledge all guests, even busy times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Day to Day:

As a Housekeeping Intern, you will be an essential part of our operational success. In this role, you will assist the housekeeping team in maintaining cleanliness and guest satisfaction while learning the day-to-day operations of a hotel.

• Learn and assist in the daily cleaning of guest rooms, public areas, and special facilities such as gyms, pools, and event spaces.
• Support the team by preparing rooms for guest check-in, including making beds, vacuuming, dusting, and restocking amenities.
• Assist in the quick and efficient turnover of guest rooms, ensuring cleanliness standards are met before check-ins.
• Assist in stocking and organizing housekeeping carts with necessary supplies and materials.
• Participate in daily team briefings to understand the workflow and any special tasks for the day.
• Learn the importance of timely guest service by responding to housekeeping requests and delivering extra amenities as needed.
• Collaborate with other departments such as maintenance and front desk to address guest concerns and requests.
• Learn to follow safety and health guidelines, including the proper handling of cleaning chemicals and waste disposal.
• Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Ideally, you'll have some or all of the following competencies and experience we're looking for:

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a diploma or degree program in Hospitality Management or a related field.
• Previous experience/On job training in a similar position
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for cleanliness.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills to complete assignments, checklists, and routine tasks.
• Physically able to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, stand, and move around the facility as required.
• Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
