Job Overview
The Host/Hostess is responsible to provide a warm welcome to guests. This job is the first point of contact for customers, ensuring their initial impression of the restaurant is positive and setting the tone for their dining experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet guests as they arrive, offer a friendly welcome, and assist with seating arrangements.
- Manage the waiting list during peak hours, accurately estimating wait times and providing updates to guests.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanour, always striving to create a positive first impression.
- Provide information about the restaurant, including daily specials, menu items, and any promotions or events.
- Receive and manage reservation requests, ensuring accurate recording of guest details and special requests.
- Collaborate with the floor manager or host/hostess team to organise seating plans and optimise table allocation.
- Confirm reservations, either by phone or email, and follow up with guests to confirm their arrival.
- Efficiently and effectively seat guests, considering their preferences and any special requirements.
- Maintain an organised and visually appealing seating area, ensuring tables are clean and properly set.
- Coordinate with the wait staff and kitchen team to manage table turnover and optimise seating availability.
- Provide guests with menus and assist in answering any initial questions they may have.
- Offer recommendations, considering guest preferences, dietary restrictions, and any available specials.
- Handle guest inquiries, concerns, or complaints promptly and professionally, escalating to management when necessary.
- Monitor guest satisfaction, seeking feedback, and taking appropriate actions to ensure a positive dining experience.
- Collaborate with the management team to track and manage guest counts, wait times, and table turnover.
- Uphold company values throughout business practices and utilise sound judgment in decision making.
- Any other additional duties as may be required by management based on needs of the business.
Work Experience
- Proven experience as a Restaurant Host/Hostess or in a customer service role within the hospitality industry
- Fine Dining restaurant is preferred
