Job summary

Gate is seeking a senior architect to lead the design and implementation of the next-generation matching engine for a global digital asset platform. You will shape data structures, memory management, and lock-free concurrency to maximize latency and throughput.

You will drive high-availability architectures, disaster recovery, and multi-active setups while building and mentoring a world-class engineering team to push technical capabilities beyond market standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in high-performance, high-concurrency systems at major tech firms.
• Experience in traditional finance high-frequency trading systems (HFT market makers, derivatives exchanges, or clearing systems).
• Experience in top-tier crypto exchanges focusing on matching engines and high-concurrency optimization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and implementation of the next-generation matching engine, including matching models, order book data structures, memory management, and lock-free concurrency.
• Establish extreme engineering standards for latency and throughput, defining and quantifying core metrics such as TPS and P99/P999 latency.
• Build high-availability disaster recovery and full-link fault recovery mechanisms, including multi-active architectures to ensure zero interruption during extreme market conditions.
• Build and lead a world-class engineering team, fostering a top-tier engineering culture and driving technical capability upgrades.

• Obsession with micro/nanosecond-level latency and deep understanding of CPU cache lines, network protocol stacks, and kernel details.
• Systematic thinking skills to handle architectural trade-offs under extreme market volatility.
• Ability to balance theoretical matching models with real-world production engineering constraints.
