Job summary

Libera Consultants Ltd is seeking an experienced Head of Instrumentation to lead the instrumentation engineering function across major upstream offshore Oil & Gas projects. This senior departmental leadership role covers concept through detailed design, with oversight across jackets, platforms and topsides.

The successful candidate will provide technical and managerial leadership, ensuring high-quality engineering standards and delivery across multiple live projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics or related Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of instrumentation engineering experience.
• Minimum 5–7 years in managerial/leadership roles.
• Strong background in Oil & Gas upstream offshore engineering.
• Extensive experience with fixed offshore facilities (jackets, platforms, topsides).
• Knowledge of instrumentation engineering across concept, FEED and detailed design stages.
• Experience in multidisciplinary EPCI environment.
• Exposure to Honeywell DCS and SCADA systems.
• Experience with national/international GCC operators is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Instrumentation Engineering department across multiple offshore projects.
• Provide leadership to Project Section Leaders, Technical Managers, Principal Engineers, Lead Engineers, and Instrumentation Engineers.
• Hold oversight and signature authority on instrumentation work and deliverables.
• Ensure quality, technical integrity and consistency of instrumentation design output.
• Oversee instrumentation scope from concept through detailed design.
• Support upstream offshore fixed-facility projects including jackets, platforms and topsides.
• Liaise with Supply Chain and suppliers on technical queries and procurement-related instrumentation matters.
• Work with Construction leadership to ensure design intent is executed ready for construction.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering quality, standards and department performance.
• Provide strong technical guidance and managerial leadership across instrumentation discipline.

We are conducting a search on behalf of a leading top tier EPC contractor for an experienced Head of Instrumentation to lead the instrumentation engineering function across major upstream offshore Oil & Gas projects.

Role Overview:

This is a senior departmental leadership position, responsible for the overall technical quality, engineering standards and delivery of instrumentation engineering activities across multiple projects. The successful candidate will provide technical and managerial leadership across the department, with oversight from concept selection through detailed design for offshore fixed-facility developments including jackets, platforms and topsides.

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics or a related Engineering discipline
• Minimum 15 years of instrumentation engineering experience
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience at managerial/leadership level
• Strong background within Oil & Gas upstream offshore engineering
• Extensive experience with fixed offshore facilities, including jackets, platforms and topsides
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation engineering across concept, FEED and detailed design stages
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary EPCI engineering environment
• Technical exposure to Honeywell DCS and SCADA systems
• Proven ability to lead large engineering teams and maintain high standards across multiple projects
• Experience supporting major national and international Oil & Gas operators in the GCC would be highly advantageous
