Job summary

Jex Recruitment is partnering with a leading technology organisation to appoint a Head of Infrastructure in the Abu Dhabi region. You will lead the design, evolution and operation of a modern, cloud-native infrastructure estate supporting large-scale, business-critical platforms.

This hands-on leadership role requires building infrastructure platforms from the ground up, defining strategy, and guiding an engineering team to ensure security, scalability, resilience and rapid innovation.

Qualifications

• Experience leading infrastructure or platform engineering functions in technology-driven organisations.
• Ability to build and operate an end-to-end cloud platform from inception to production at scale.
• Strong expertise in public cloud, Kubernetes, containers and cloud-native architectures.
• Deep knowledge of DevOps practices including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automation and configuration management.
• Proven track record leading SRE, platform reliability or operational excellence initiatives.

We're partnering with one of the region's most ambitious technology organisations to appoint a Head of Infrastructure who will lead the design, evolution and operation of a modern, cloud-native infrastructure estate supporting large-scale, business-critical platforms.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has built infrastructure platforms from the ground up rather than managed a single component within a much larger engineering function. You'll be responsible for defining the infrastructure strategy, leading a high-calibre engineering team, and ensuring the platform is secure, scalable, resilient and built to support rapid innovation.

What you'll be doing

• Define and execute the infrastructure strategy across cloud, networking, compute and platform services.
• Build, lead and mentor a high-performing infrastructure engineering team.
• Design highly available, secure and scalable environments capable of supporting mission-critical applications.
• Drive infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices.
• Embed security into every layer of the infrastructure, partnering closely with security teams to ensure best-in-class governance and resilience.
• Own observability, reliability, disaster recovery and operational excellence across the environment.
• Work closely with software engineering and architecture teams to enable rapid, secure software delivery.

What we're looking for

• Experience leading infrastructure or platform engineering functions within technology-driven organisations.
• Proven experience building and operating an end-to-end cloud platform or infrastructure environment from inception through to production at scale.
• Strong expertise across public cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP), Kubernetes, containers and modern cloud-native architectures.
• Deep knowledge of DevOps practices including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred), automation and configuration management.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure security, identity, networking, secrets management, compliance and cloud security best practices.
• Experience leading Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), platform reliability or operational excellence initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to build and scale engineering teams while remaining technically credible.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence both technical and executive audiences.
