Job summary

NMC is seeking an experienced nurse leader to oversee patient care quality and coordinate unit activities in Abu Dhabi. The role requires effective team management, clinical oversight, and collaboration with the Nursing Supervisor across shifts.

The position emphasizes evidence-based practice, staff development, and maintaining high standards of patient safety. A current RN license and BLS certification are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Ensure and oversee the care delivered to all patients in the unit is safe, appropriate and effective.
  • Determine nursing interventions based on assessment data.
  • Prioritize identified needs.
  • Implement nursing actions and evaluate patient outcomes.
  • Develop or revise the plan of care.
  • Deliver identified patient needs.
  • Coordinate the clinical activities of the unit when serving as charge nurse.
  • Collaborate with Nursing Supervisor on staffing for shifts.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate clinical programs.
  • Evaluate patient and bystander understanding and involvement in care decisions.
  • Facilitate patient education.
  • Maintain accurate and real-time clinical records.
  • Perform advanced or specialized nursing skills competently.
  • Maintain current knowledge of clinical nursing practice.
  • Act as a clinical resource for staff within the department/unit.
  • Communicate and consult with other health care disciplines.
  • Represent nursing at multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Perform essential life support as per regulatory requirements (BLS, PALS, ACLS, NRP).
  • Participate in developing standards, procedures and protocols.
  • Facilitate evidence-based practice.
  • Promote changes in nursing practice when required.
  • Support CQI activities in nursing staff under guidance of Nursing Management/Education.
  • Promote a safe learning environment.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement.

The post holder will always work within the scope of practice, put the health, wellbeing and safety of their patient first as they assess, plan, implement and evaluate their needs.


Responsibilities:
  • Ensure and oversee the care that is delivered to all patients in the unit is safe, appropriate and effective.

  • Determine nursing interventions based on assessment data.

  • Take a proactive role under the guidance of Nursing Management/Nursing Education in training, education and CQI activities of nursing staff.

  • Perform other professional duties as may be assigned within his/her scope and ability.


Qualifications:

  • Have evidenced experience in managing teams

  • Have an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority with all the qualifications and experience these mandates.

  • Manage their own professional re-licensure.

  • Have valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.

  • Be willing to work across departments when necessary

  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)

DESIRABLE: The post holder should have:

  • Evidenced ability to work as part of an inter-professional team

  • Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the electronic medical record platform for clinical documentation
