Are you passionate about geotechnical engineering and eager to launch your career with a global leader in infrastructure consulting? AECOM is seeking a motivated graduate to join our team as a Graduate Engineer Geotechnical/Ground Engineering in our Abu Dhabi office. This role is part of our Graduate Program offering the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, gain exposure to diverse projects and develop essential skills in geotechnical design and analysis.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Develop designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams and project models as per specific discipline requirements. Works on drawings under the supervision of an experienced Engineer.
  • Assist with the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure high quality outputs under project timelines.
  • Under supervision, perform work following the agreed upon budget and schedule.
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving fundamental engineering problems.
  • Coordinate with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process.
  • Participate in design progress and coordination meetings.
  • Actively seek information opportunities to participate and contribute and develop efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Contribute by solving problems and applying experience or theoretical knowledge to atypical assignments.
Candidate Specifics

The candidate should have an interest in developing their skills in several of the following areas.

  • Geotechnical Investigations
  • Assessment of Geotechnical Parameters
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Preparation of Ground Models for different design situations
  • Shallow Foundation Design
  • Deep Foundation Design
  • Earthworks (Embankment) Design
  • Slope Design / Seismic Design
  • Geophysical Survey
  • Geotechnics of dam design

There will be the opportunity to gain experience in the use of some of the following software packages:

  • Slope Stability Analysis - Slope/W or Slide
  • Seepage Analysis - Seep/W
  • FEM 2D and 3D - Plaxis or RS2/3 or Sigma/W or FLAC
  • Pile Analysis - Repute Group and LPile
  • Stress and Settlement Analysis - PDisp or Settle 3D

This role is ideal for someone who is interested in a blend of design and hands‑on site experience.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with an interest/focus in one or more of the following subjects from an accredited university:
    • Geotechnical Engineering
    • Engineering Geology
    • Geological Engineering
    • Soil / Rock / Mining Engineering
  • Candidates must be recent 2024 or 2025 graduates to be eligible for AECOM's Graduate Program.
  • Successful applicants must have achieved a minimum GPA of 2.8 (or equivalent) and above.
  • As part of AECOM's commitment to Emiratisation and in compliance with UAE labour law only UAE Nationals with a family book will be considered for this role.
