WSP in the Middle East is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Abu Dhabi team, supporting major infrastructure projects across the UAE. You will lead geotechnical investigations, analyses, and reporting, working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, cost-effective solutions.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of geotechnical experience, a Civil Engineering degree with a geotechnical focus, and a track record on transportation and infrastructure projects in the UAE or GCC.

Job Description

WSP is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Abu Dhabi team, supporting the delivery of major transportation, road, utilities, and infrastructure projects across the UAE. The successful candidate will be responsible for geotechnical investigations, analysis, design, and technical reporting, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop safe, practical, and cost-effective geotechnical solutions. This role is best suited to candidates with a strong consulting engineering background and experience on large-scale infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical investigations and assessments for roads, highways, transportation, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
• Interpret ground investigation data and develop geotechnical design recommendations.
• Carry out geotechnical analyses for shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, excavations, embankments, and slope stability.
• Prepare geotechnical design reports, factual reports, specifications, and technical submissions.
• Review borehole logs, laboratory test results, and field investigation data.
• Support multidisciplinary project teams with geotechnical input throughout planning and design stages.
• Coordinate with Civil, Structural, Roads, Utilities, and Drainage teams to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Ensure compliance with project requirements, international standards, and local authority regulations.
• Participate in technical meetings with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
• Assist with value engineering exercises and development of practical geotechnical solutions.
• Prepare technical calculations, design documentation, and engineering reports.
• Provide construction-phase support and respond to geotechnical queries as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
• 5-10 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience.
• Proven experience delivering transportation, roads, highways, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
• Strong consultancy background within engineering design environments.
• Experience interpreting geotechnical investigation data and laboratory testing results.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, gINT, WALLAP, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of foundation engineering, soil mechanics, earthworks, retaining structures, and ground improvement techniques.
• Familiarity with Eurocodes, AASHTO, British Standards, and relevant UAE standards.
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
• Experience working on major infrastructure projects within the UAE or GCC region is preferred.
• Knowledge of Abu Dhabi and UAE ground conditions is highly desirable.
• Previous experience with leading engineering consultancies is preferred.
• Consultant-side infrastructure experience is essential.
