Job Summary
The Furnace Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation of steelmaking furnaces, ensuring efficient melting, refining, and casting processes. This role involves managing furnace operators, optimizing process parameters, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards to maximize production efficiency.
Job Responsibilities 1
- Supervise the operation of electric arc furnaces (EAF), induction furnaces, or ladle refining furnaces (LRF) to ensure optimal performance.
- Coordinate with the production team to meet daily and monthly steel output targets.
- Control process parameters such as temperature, power input, and alloy additions to ensure metallurgical consistency.
- Enforce safety procedures, including PPE usage, heat protection measures, and emergency protocols.
- Ensure adherence to chemical composition and mechanical properties specifications for molten steel.
- Identify furnace performance issues and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs and refractory lining inspections.
- Monitor scrap metal, ferroalloys, and flux consumption to maintain efficiency and cost control.
- Supervise furnace operators, conduct performance evaluations, and provide technical training.
- Maintain records of heat logs, furnace performance data, and production reports.
- Implement energy‑saving measures and optimize power consumption for cost‑effective furnace operation.
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of steel melting, refining, and casting operations.
- Familiarity with furnace refractory lining, electrode management, and cooling systems.
- Understanding of industrial safety regulations, emissions control, and workplace hazard management.
- Ability to analyze furnace issues and implement corrective actions effectively.
- ERP knowledge (preferably SAP functional skills) is a requirement to be successful in this role.
Job Experience
Minimum 3 years working experience, 2 years relevant working experience, 1 year GCC experience is a plus
