Job summary

Vitol seeks a Full Stack Desk Developer in Dubai to join the CTRM & Operations Desk Developer team. You will build and support full-stack applications used by the desk, prototyping rapid solutions and integrating with Vitol MIS platforms.

The role emphasizes collaboration with operations and trading teams, strong Python/C# and React expertise, and experience with modern data/workflow tools in a fast-paced trading environment.

Qualifications

• Relevant university degree.
• 3+ years of full stack Python + .NET C# backend experience with ORM and API frameworks.
• 3+ years of full stack TypeScript React development experience.
• Proven experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/Oracle).
• Experience with agentic workflow tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode).

Responsibilities

• Develop full-stack desktop and web applications used by the trading desk.
• Transform and modernize automation tooling for operations and trading teams.

Full Stack Desk Developer (Typescript React & Python)

This unique role places you directly within our global CTRM & Operations Desk Developer team working closely with our physical operations and trading desks in Dubai. You will be given the opportunity to work with technical and non-technical experts and develop innovative solutions, and full-stack applications used by the desk. The role will offer you an incredible opportunity to impact operational decisions through the development of innovative solutions.

You will be heavily involved in helping transform the existing business developed automation tooling landscape, where your ability to quickly understand business requirements, communicate effectively, work independently and rapidly prototype/iterate over new and existing requirements will be crucial in driving modern cutting-edge solutions to empower the physical operations desk.

This Full Stack Developer role, located in Dubai, UAE, characterizes itself by:

Rapid Prototyping: Working closely with the operations/commercial teams to build and support market-focused business development applications and support existing tools, by rapidly iterating on user feedback, turning it into actionable value adding solutions

Project Management: Analyse ongoing business and user requirements and independently manage project lifecycles from end-to-end within the team.

Innovation: Suggest innovative and reliable technical solutions for the business, enhancing existing processes or identifying new opportunities for the business to leverage.

Platform Expertise and Integration: Develop a deep understanding of Vitol's MIS platforms and tools, their functionalities and capabilities to help the business development platform thrive.

Relevant university degree

3+ years of full stack Python + ideally also .NET C# (backend) development experience with in-depth knowledge of ORM and API frameworks

3+ years of full stack Typescript React development experience

Proven experience using advanced agentic workflow tools within a software development lifecycle (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode)

Proven experience using Python libraries such as Fast API, SQL Alchemy and Pydantic is mandatory

Experience using C# Entity Framework preferred

Experience using agentic workflow tools preferred (Claude Cowork, ChatGPT Work, OpenWork, n8n, CrewAI)

Experience in building, maintaining and optimizing relational SQL databases (PostgresSQL/Oracle)

Passion for developing in Python, C# and React and a driven desire to engage with both our development community and the business

Drive to stay up to date with changes in the Python, C# and Typescript React landscape, and develop on the forefront of these exciting and fast-paced programming languages

Experience within the Commodity Trading sector preferred
