What you’ll do

• Carry out all types of wood finishing including French polishing staining waxing and varnishing on furniture fittings and decorative surfaces.
• Repair scratches dents and watermarks on wooden surfaces to restore them to their original condition.
• Maintain high-quality finishes on all wooden surfaces in guest rooms public areas and hotel facilities.
• Work closely with the engineering housekeeping and front office departments to coordinate furniture repair requests.
• Perform regular inspections of wooden fixtures to ensure they meet the hotels aesthetic and safety standards.
• Ensure all work complies with local building codes hotel brand standards and health and safety regulations.
• Report any serious maintenance problems unusual findings or safety hazards immediately to the manager.

• You will comply with the departmental/corporate SOP & LSOP. Will ensure implementation of Dorchester Collection Policies Standards and Procedures in relation to Engineering fairly and consistently.
• Will be aware of all existing departmental job safety analysis and strive to work in an accident-free manner and to create a safe working environment for self and for others.

What you’ll bring

• Youll bring your unique personality and passion to the role and the team.
• Proven experience as a French Polisher or similar woodworking position ideally in a luxury hospitality or high-end residential environment.
• Excellent knowledge of traditional and modern wood finishing techniques.
• Strong eye for detail color matching and surface preparation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to high standards.
• Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings tile layout plans and specifications.
• Knowledge of eco-friendly materials and sustainable installation practices.
• Familiarity with other trades (e.g. waterproofing carpentry painting) is a plus.
• Communication is what keeps our departments running perfectly. You have great communication skills with a strong customer service ethic.
• English is the primary language used in our hotel. You can comfortably communicate in this language.
