Overview of the Role

The Finance Trainee will support recurring FP and A activities while developing an understanding of financial reporting and business operations. Responsibilities range from preparing and circulating monthly management information to assisting with quarterly budget and forecast submissions and analysing financial performance across different Lines of Business. The position requires close coordination with finance colleagues, Business Analysts, Operations teams, and other stakeholders. As experience develops, the trainee will progressively take greater ownership of budget and forecast submissions within SAP and BPC.

Monthly MIS Reporting

• Assist the Financial Reporting Manager with extracting financial reports from multiple sources.
• Organise financial information to support accurate and effective reporting.
• Maintain historical records of reported business performance for future analysis and reference.
• Prepare and circulate monthly MIS reports to relevant stakeholders.
• Support the consistency and timeliness of recurring management information.

Budget and Forecast Submission

• Support budget and forecast preparation and submission activities.
• Develop the capability to manage quarterly SAP and BPC uploads from start to finish.
• Coordinate financial information required for budget and forecast submissions.
• Communicate final budget and forecast P and L information to stakeholders for their respective SBUs.
• Help maintain an organised and reliable submission process.

Financial Analysis

• Work with the Financial Reporting Manager on monthly variance analysis for each Line of Business.
• Analyse financial data and identify meaningful performance trends.
• Provide insights that can support informed business decisions.
• Develop a detailed understanding of business operations and their financial impact.
• Identify areas of over or under spending through financial analysis.
• Support interpretation of business performance against financial expectations.

Finance and Operational Support

• Assist with ad-hoc requests received from Business Analysts and Operations teams.
• Collaborate with the wider Finance team on Group Reporting requirements.
• Manage multiple requests while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
• Maintain effective communication with stakeholders involved in reporting and planning activities.
