Job summary

Al Masaood Power in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Fire & Gas (F&G) engineer to design, engineer, and support complex F&G systems for diesel generator set installations.

The role requires coordination with project teams, vendors, and support functions to ensure alignment and successful project execution, with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance. Strong expertise in Fire & Gas detection and E&I integration is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a core engineering discipline; electrical and instrumentation background considered favourable.
• 5-8 years’ experience in F&G engineering, preferably in Industrial or Oil & Gas sector.
• Strong understanding of Fire & Gas Detection Systems.
• Design, implement & test fire and gas designs.

Responsibilities

• Review detector coverage on P&IDs and layouts.
• Coordinate with vendors and EPC teams.
• Review hazardous area classifications.
• Support shutdown and emergency system integration.
• Review vendor documents and technical submittals.
• Assist with commissioning, FAT, SAT and system testing.
• Troubleshoot F&G system issues during operations or maintenance.
• Prepare engineering documentation and reports.
• Attend technical and coordination meetings.
• Respond to RFIs and review contractor submissions and method statements.

Job Purpose To design and engineer complex Fire & Gas (F&G) systems for diesel generator set installation projects, providing technical support for in-house engineering activities. To act as a liaison between project teams and support functions, ensuring seamless coordination, alignment of objectives, and successful project execution.

Job Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities

• Reviewing detector coverage on P&IDs and layouts
• Coordinating with vendors and EPC teams
• Reviewing hazardous area classifications
• Supporting shutdown and emergency system integration

Daily Responsibilities

• Review vendor documents and technical submittals
• Support commissioning, FAT, SAT, and system testing
• Troubleshoot F&G system issues during operations or maintenance
• Prepare engineering documentation and reports

Quality Responsibilities

• Ensure construction quality meets specifications
• Conduct inspections and snagging
• Support testing and commissioning where relevant
• Maintain engineering records and documentation

Commercial Responsibilities

• Support quantity estimation for structural materials
• Assist with value engineering exercises
• Review variation impacts on structural scope
• Help evaluate contractor claims related to structural works
• Attend technical and coordination meetings
• Respond to RFIs (Requests for Information)
• Review contractor submissions and method statements
