First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) seeks a senior Energy Options Trader to build and manage the desk’s options activity, with initial emphasis on crude oil, natural gas, and related energy markets. You will price, trade, hedge, and manage risk across energy options, driving revenue while maintaining disciplined risk controls.

The role requires 7+ years in option trading with strong oil/derivative experience, a university degree, and deep knowledge of commodity markets and trading systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in option trading, with strong experience in Oil & Derivatives or Carbon & Gas.
• University degree with solid understanding of options and volatility trading.
• Strong knowledge of commodity markets, trading platforms and trading systems.
• Demonstrable track record of managing commodities risk.

• Recognizes opportunities to generate additional flow for the unit beyond remit.
• Strong teamwork and ability to distribute important news to the room/network.

Responsibilities

• Manage risk position of the desk within limits and monitor risks in the global commodity book.
• Be accountable for risk levels and add revenue streams to Commodities.
• Interact with sales on trading/hedging ideas.
• Work with sales to create solutions.
• Coordinate with FAB centers internationally for flow and pricing.
• Ensure daily reporting of trading positions and alignment with FAB goals.
• Maintain FAB as leading for hedging requirements.

Summary

The Commodity trading desk is providing commodity hedges and risk management solutions. The desk covers a wide product range, covering Energy, Base and Precious Metals, Carbon and Agriculture; the role is for a senior Energy Options Trader responsible for building and managing the desk’s options activity, with an initial emphasis on crude oil, natural gas and related energy markets products;

Key Responsibilities

• Price, execute, market make and risk manage options across crude oil, refined products and natural gas.
• Own the portfolio’s options and volatility risk framework.
• Manage risk position of the desk within the applicable limits and desk risk tolerance and monitor the risks in the global commodity book;
• Be accountable for the risk levels and limits set by desk head and be responsible for adding revenue streams to Commodities;
• Have continuous interaction with sales on trading/hedging ideas;
• Work closely with the sales team creating solutions;
• Work with other international FAB centers capturing flow and pricing for new additional local customers business;
• Continually interface with desk head to ensure trading positions are reported daily, and the long-term requirement of FAB remains the target;
• Maintain and enhance market counterparty and customer perception of FAB as the number one institution for local banks and corporates to handle their commodity business hedging requirements.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in option trading with specifically strong experience in Options Oil & Derivatives or Carbon & Gas;
• A university degree combined with a solid understanding of options and volatility trading;
• Strong knowledge of commodity markets, trading platforms and trading systems;
• Demonstrable track record of managing commodities risk;
• Anticipates customer needs and responds to requirements in a timely and efficient manner. Show's strength in building positive relationships with existing and new clients;
• Recognizes and demonstrates the ability to exploit new business avenues, generating additional flow for the unit up and beyond his remit;
• As a strong team player would show the ability to distribute important news to the room/network;
• Adapts to change and supports any new desk initiatives. Promotes new ways of working and remains of a confident and approachable nature;
• Has a comprehensive mastery of the key financial and commercial performance indicators of the strategic business unit;
• Shows great awareness in developing new products that have the potential to increase revenue and keep the bank at the forefront of changes.

Preferred / Beneficial

• Experience trading other commodity assets such as emissions would be beneficial
• Preference for candidates with a proven track record in running risk in oil, products, natural gas and carbon;
• Quantitative skills and ideally have coding experience in Python or a similar language
