The Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Research Manager to lead multidisciplinary environmental research programs, scientific studies, field investigations, monitoring initiatives, and applied research projects. The successful candidate will manage researchers, scientists, consultants, laboratories, and external partners while translating scientific findings into practical environmental policies, strategies, and management solutions. This role is ideal for professionals with experience in environmental science, ecology, environmental engineering, marine science, biodiversity, climate research, environmental monitoring, or sustainability research.

What You'll Do

Develop and implement an environmental research strategy aligned with organizational and national sustainability objectives. Lead multidisciplinary research programs addressing environmental priorities in the UAE. Identify emerging environmental issues, research gaps, and opportunities for scientific investigation. Develop research proposals, scopes of work, methodologies, budgets, schedules, and project plans. Lead environmental field studies, surveys, sampling programs, laboratory investigations, and monitoring initiatives. Manage research covering air quality, water resources, soil, marine environments, biodiversity, ecosystems, climate, pollution, and environmental health as applicable. Design and implement environmental monitoring programs and long‑term datasets. Establish scientific methodologies, quality‑control procedures, sampling protocols, and data‑management standards. Analyze environmental datasets and identify trends, patterns, risks, and emerging environmental conditions. Use statistical analysis, GIS, remote sensing, modeling, and other scientific tools to support research. Evaluate environmental impacts associated with development, infrastructure, industrial activities, and climate change. Conduct research into ecosystem resilience, habitat conservation, biodiversity, and environmental restoration. Support climate‑change research, including impacts on temperature, rainfall, drought, coastal environments, biodiversity, and water resources. Develop research programs addressing environmental risks specific to arid and coastal environments. Coordinate laboratory testing, environmental sampling, ecological surveys, and specialist technical studies. Ensure scientific data is accurate, traceable, reproducible, and appropriately documented. Review scientific reports, research papers, datasets, technical assessments, and environmental models. Translate complex scientific findings into practical recommendations for management and decision‑making. Prepare technical reports, research publications, policy briefs, presentations, and executive recommendations. Support environmental policy, sustainability strategies, conservation plans, and regulatory initiatives with scientific evidence. Collaborate with government agencies, universities, research institutions, environmental organizations, industry partners, and international experts. Develop strategic research partnerships and collaborative scientific programs. Manage external researchers, consultants, laboratories, universities, and specialist service providers. Identify funding opportunities and support grant applications, research proposals, and partnership agreements. Monitor research budgets, schedules, milestones, risks, and scientific deliverables. Establish research KPIs and performance indicators. Maintain appropriate environmental research databases, repositories, GIS systems, and scientific records. Evaluate emerging technologies such as AI, environmental sensors, satellite imagery, drones, digital twins, automated monitoring, and advanced environmental modeling. Develop innovative approaches for environmental monitoring and predictive environmental assessment. Ensure research activities comply with applicable UAE environmental, scientific, ethical, health, safety, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate permits, approvals, sampling authorizations, and regulatory requirements where applicable. Establish research quality‑assurance and peer‑review processes. Promote scientific integrity, ethical research practices, and responsible data management. Lead and mentor environmental scientists, researchers, field specialists, analysts, and technical staff. Present research findings to senior management, government stakeholders, scientific committees, and external partners. Represent the organization at scientific conferences, workshops, technical committees, and industry forums. Identify opportunities to convert research findings into practical environmental improvements. Drive continuous improvement in environmental research capabilities, scientific quality, innovation, and impact.

What We're Looking For

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Environmental Science, Ecology, Marine Biology, Environmental Engineering, Climate Science, Conservation Biology, or a related discipline
• Published scientific research, peer‑reviewed papers, technical reports, or demonstrated research leadership
• Professional certifications in environmental management, sustainability, GIS, data science, or related fields
• Strong proficiency with Arc GIS, QGIS, remote sensing, statistical software, Python, R, or environmental modeling tools
• Experience with environmental models such as hydrological, air‑quality, ecological, climate, coastal, or dispersion models
• Knowledge of ISO 14001, environmental impact assessment, environmental monitoring, biodiversity assessment, and environmental‑management systems
• Experience with marine and coastal research, desert ecosystems, biodiversity conservation, or arid‑land environmental management
• Knowledge of UAE and emirate‑level environmental legislation and regulatory requirements
• Experience working with UAE environmental authorities, universities, research institutions, or conservation organizations
• Previous experience working across the UAE and GCC is an advantage
• Experience managing large‑scale environmental research programs or international collaborations is highly desirable
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic is an advantage
