Job Objective
  • Responsible for the execution of the engineering portion of a multi-discipline scope on one or more projects. Coordinates and completes the various engineering and start-up aspects of a project while meeting HSSE, quality, schedule, and budget performance goals. Ensures technical excellence of the engineering portion across all disciplines.

  • Managing and leading, supporting, and supervising the discipline engineering teams on the assigned scope(s) of work
  • Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities

May participate directly in the design, development and inspection of technical projects or in the engineering work of the department. The Engineering Manager leads by example, consistently displaying and enforcing the Company’s values and behaviours, and commitment to the highest standards of safe and ethical behaviour, to ensure safe and reliable operations and client satisfaction.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Driving technical assurance
  • Continuous promotion of corporate / client-specific procedures
  • Assist in incident investigations as required
  • Monitors compliance with standards and processes to ensure delivery
  • Roll out and Implementation of learning opportunities from across the business
  • Driving continually focuses on process safety through the engineering team
  • Driving elimination of technical incidents through robust controls, incident reviews and embedding lessons learned
  • Identifies and mitigates areas of risk and improvement opportunities
  • Identifies and pursues improvement opportunities
  • Managing and leading, supporting and supervising the multidiscipline engineering team
Managing and leading multidiscipline engineering team
  • Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the activities and operations of a multidiscipline engineering team
  • Assist in the management of recruitment, selection, transfers, performance management, succession planning and promotion of resources
  • Ensuring appropriately resourced and competent personnel on Project/Contract
  • Oversight and control of Engineering Histogram to support workforce planning
  • Assist in setting & maintaining standards for development and retention of motivated and competent people
Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities
  • Responsible for the engineering content of project execution plans for assigned contracts/projects
  • Direct the engineering activities of the business grouping/Project
  • Manage and direct resources efficiently and effectively
  • Consult and negotiate with clients to prepare specifications, explain proposals, and present engineering reports
  • Assign, coordinate and review the technical work of the department or project teams
  • Focus on cost, completion date, and resource allocation; provide expert resolution of issues and monitor integration
  • Review technical concepts of major projects
  • Personally participate in solving difficult technical problems
  • Resolve conflicts and facilitate agreement between conflicting parties
  • Identify and request functional support to projects/contracts as required
  • Accountable for efficient planning and management of engineering resources, pursuing margin improvement opportunities
Undertaking the role of process owner
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering work
  • Direct the application of existing principles and development of new policies aligned with OU, BU, and corporate objectives
  • Conduit for regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives, and industry technology developments
Internal
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate across business interfaces
  • Engage with business / functional community and promote the function including networking/knowledge sharing
  • Interactions with Heads of Disciplines, Heads of Engineering to ensure resourcing of competent personnel
External
  • Communicate and cooperate with external stakeholders including industry bodies, academia, vendors, client interface (as requested), market intelligence, relevant conferences, and business development
Level Of Influence & Decision-Making Authority
  • Actions and decisions influence long-term profitability, operating and technical results of the business group or function
  • Accountable for the operational budget of the engineering function within the operating unit
  • Develops annual functional budgets and forecast updates
  • Line management for all personnel within the contract/project Engineering team
  • Management of change and organizational change
  • Development of key talent and leadership succession planning within Engineering
  • Accountable for delivering against performance KPIs

Expected
  • B.S. or equivalent degree in the Engineering discipline from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 20+ years relevant experience in major Brownfield oil & gas projects, including at least five (5) years in a similar position
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
  • Specific experience in Oil and Gas projects across their lifecycle in the GCC region, preferred
  • Pre-FEED, FEED experience is required
  • Detailed Engineering experience is preferred
