Job summary

ADNOC Group in Abu Dhabi seeks a Senior Telecom Engineer to supervise maintenance and upgrade activities for plant telecommunications systems. You will guide teams, coordinate with regulatory bodies and external providers, and ensure safe, reliable telecom operations across facilities.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and at least six years in large industrial telecom services, preferably within Oil & Gas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
• 6 years of experience in managing Telecom Engineering services in a large industrial organization, preferably Oil & Gas.
• Experience in guiding technicians for testing and troubleshooting Telecom, CCTV, PAGA and plant access control systems.
• Experience using MAXIMO for planning, scheduling and analysing work orders.
• Experience supervising subordinates and contractor activities.

JOB PURPOSE

Supervise, ensure and provide telecom services and technical expertise in telecommunications engineering and to plan, co-ordinate, direct, manage execution of jobs related to Plant Telecommunications to ensure availability and reliability.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Maintenance Planning, Execution and expertise

• Provide technical advice and guidance in the routine, predictive and preventive maintenance of Plant telecommunications systems, to aid the Plant operations adhering & enhancing the HSE policies of the company.
• Personally carry out the more specialized or complex repair/maintenance of telecommunication systems.
• Planning and preparation of maintenance programs, directing the implementation of such programmes, examining equipment performance and implementing programs of maintenance cost control with maximum safety and efficiency.
• Prepare Capital, EOM, MM, Operating budgets and Five Year business plan. Monitor & control the expenditure against budget.
• Develop conceptual studies and write statement of requirements for new projects and ensure uniformity and standardization compatibility at optimum level in design and engineering in all phases of the project.
• Review and approve engineering designs prepared service providers, vendors and contractors for all Telecom, Radios, Public address and General Alarm systems, CCTV, structured cabling and plant access system.
• Identify, evaluate, select and test new telecom and network technologies to meet current and future business needs. Ensure state-of-the-art technology is applied in the selection of all telecom equipment.
• Monitor / coordinate installations during construction, witnesses Factory and Site Acceptance Tests, pre-commissioning and commissioning of Telecom equipment/system and assure that the installation/performance is in accordance with specification. Develop, execute and handover minor upgrade projects after successful completion and ensure these projects are compliance with standard and procedures. To apply cost-effective solutions, value engineering throughout the duration of projects.
• Act as division focal point to review & comment on projects telecom activities performed by projects, Consultants, FEED Engineers and EPC contractors
• Participate in the planning and execution of telecommunication & surveillances modifications, expansions or new equipment installation. Includes reviewing user's requirements and recommending type and scope of systems as appropriate for planned work. Estimate costs of materials, spare parts and work force utilized in assignments for budgetary purposes and participate in user service agreement preparation and negotiation
• Coordinate with TRA (Telecom Regulatory Authority) through Telecommunications Team in IT Division for any radio interferences and for approval of any new radio equipment and obtaining TRA licences.
• Coordinate and liaison with PTT (Etisalat & Du) and participates in any network equipment/links abnormality. Execute jobs with PTT Network technical personnel and coordinates/assists in various analysis / testing of the fault until complete network operation recovery is established. Participates with concerned PTT staff in carrying out site equipment maintenance activities and any other major repairs whenever they occur.
• Investigate, analyse and recommend corrective actions for all network failures, particularly in the network medium, communication links and PABXs.
• Plan, schedule, execute and supervise the Preventive/Predictive maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment to ensure reliability, availability and safe operations.
• Inspect / follow up tasks progress and provide report to ensure timely and quality job execution
• Monitor availability of tools, equipment, and parts for scheduled jobs to ensure smooth operations. Prepare list of spares, tools and materials required for the maintenance jobs and issue the Purchase/Material requisitions. Inspect new materials’ specifications to meet specifications and suitability.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Bachelor Degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
• 6 years of experience in managing Telecom Engineering services within a large industrial organization, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
• Good knowledge and experience in Industrial Telecommunications.
• Experience in guiding technician for testing and trouble shooting of Telecom, CCTV, PAGA and plant access control systems, testing and trouble shooting of cable networks.
• Experience in using MAXIMO for planning, scheduling and analysing work orders
• Experience in supervising subordinates and contractor activities.
