Job summary

EDGE, headquartered in the United Arab Emirates and Abu Dhabi-based, is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, test, and continuously improve advanced mechanical systems for high-technology autonomous platforms. The role blends design, analysis and real-world testing across the full lifecycle from concept to disposal.

The successful candidate will have a mechanical/aerospace engineering degree and practical CAE knowledge, with at least 1 year in mechanical design or analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other related fields.
• Working knowledge in the broad spectrum of mechanical engineering development and manufacturing.
• Knowledge in the application of CAE in the design process advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Undertake mechanical design and support work throughout the life-cycle of the system under development, for all phases of conceptual design, preliminary design, detail design and development, manufacture, production, end-use support and phase-out/disposal
• Perform simulation analyses for concept studies, detail designs, evaluations, and testing as and when required in the Mechanical engineering field
• Perform precise engineering calculations using theoretical methods as well as computational simulations
• Influence and improve designs based on analysis and interpretation of results
• Devise, organize and ensure engineering arrangements and revisions
• Establish test specifications and procedures to ensure that all design requirements are met
• Evaluate the performance of mechanical equipment against set performance requirements

ABOUT THE ROLE

ADVANCED CONCEPTS is an entity within EDGE dedicated to the design and deployment of advanced, innovative technologies. ADVANCED CONCEPTS is fast-tracking the development of high-technology autonomous systems, including three Medium Endurance, High Altitude, fixed-wing unmanned aerial systems, a family of precision loitering munitions, a cost- effective family of cruise missiles, and a range of guided artillery munitions.

This role ensures that designs meet specified technical, functional and performance requirements. It is a hands-on mechanical engineering role combining design, analysis, testing and continuous design improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other related fields
• Working knowledge in the broad spectrum of mechanical engineering development and manufacturing
• Knowledge in the application of CAE in the design process advantageous

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 1 years in Mechanical design or Analysis preferably in an aerospace or military industry
