Job summary

EDGE in Abu Dhabi seeks a senior engineer to lead FEA/structural analysis for mechanical and vehicle systems. You will define analysis requirements, execute static/dynamic/thermal analyses, and validate results to ensure design integrity and weight optimization.

With 10+ years in FEA, proficiency in ANSYS, and exposure to defense applications, you will drive design improvements, support testing, and prepare detailed analysis reports for design reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Automotive / Mechatronics Engineering is essential; relevant Master’s Degree would be an advantage.
  • Minimum 10+ years relevant engineering experience with strong FEA/structural-analysis expertise.
  • Automotive, defense, heavy-vehicle or special-purpose vehicle experience would be an advantage.
  • Strong experience with ANSYS or equivalent CAE software is essential.
  • Experience with Creo Simulation, Creo and Windchill would be an advantage.
  • Experience with Geomagic Design X, Control X and Artec Studio would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Senior Engineers and Design teams to define analysis requirements, load cases and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform static, dynamic, modal/vibration and thermal/thermo-mechanical analysis; relevant practical experience is essential.
  • Perform fatigue, buckling and nonlinear/contact analysis is essential.
  • Define boundary conditions, material properties, contacts, meshing strategy and convergence criteria and ensure appropriate FEA modelling practices.
  • Perform engineering calculations, load-path assessment, structural sizing and factor-of-safety calculations to validate simulation results.
  • Evaluate stress, strain, deformation, stiffness, natural frequencies, durability and structural margins and recommend design improvements is essential.
  • Support design optimization, weight reduction, failure investigation and root-cause analysis are essential.
  • Correlate FEA results with physical testing and support prototype validation and qualification is essential.
  • Prepare analysis reports and present technical recommendations during design reviews is essential.
  • Experience in blast, shock and impact analysis for defense applications would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of materials, GD&T, manufacturing, welding/fabrication and DFM/DFA would be an advantage.
  • Experience in CAD/PLM, reverse engineering, 3D scanning and 3D printing would be an advantage.
  • Implement and monitor mitigating measures identified through risk treatment and approved risk-management processes.
  • Report operational risks and follow approved risk-management procedures, including ISO 31000 and ISO 45001 requirements.
  • Support other members of the Engineering Department and perform other duties as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of company information.
  • Learn, understand and comply with contractual obligations and established Quality and HSE standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Purpose

Perform FEA, structural simulation and engineering calculations to support the design, development and validation of mechanical and vehicle systems, ensuring structural integrity, durability and design optimization.
