Job summary

DESCON ENGINEERING,UAE BU seeks a seasoned QC Engineer to oversee quality control across construction, fabrication, installation and testing for oil and gas projects in Abu Dhabi. Ensure compliance with ITPs, procedures and international standards.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 12–15 years of QA/QC on EPC or petrochemical projects with familiarity to ASME, API, ASTM, AWS, ISO 9001 and related codes. GCC/Middle East experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Diploma in engineering or related discipline.
• 12–15 years of QA/QC experience in Oil & Gas, EPC, Petrochemical, Refinery, or Construction.
• Strong knowledge of QA/QC principles, procedures and documentation.
• Experience with ITPs, Method Statements, NCR management, and quality audits.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor QC activities per project specs, ITPs and standards.
• Inspect and verify construction, fabrication, installation and testing work.
• Coordinate with Construction, Engineering, QA/QC and client reps for inspections.
• Review inspection reports, test certificates and vendor documentation.
• Raise and close NCRs, SORs and corrective actions.
• Maintain quality records and project quality docs.
• Support site activities during commissioning and handover.
• Promote HSE and quality compliance on site.

Job description

• Implement and monitor Quality Control activities in accordance with project specifications, approved procedures, ITPs, and applicable international standards.
• Conduct inspection and verification of construction, fabrication, installation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
• Coordinate with Construction, Engineering, QA/QC, and Client representatives for inspections and quality-related matters.
• Review material inspection reports, test certificates, and vendor documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Perform witness and surveillance inspections for welding, fabrication, erection, installation, hydrotesting, and pre-commissioning activities.
• Raise, monitor, and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Site Observation Reports (SORs), and corrective actions.
• Ensure all inspections are carried out in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Method Statements.
• Maintain quality records, inspection reports, test reports, and project quality documentation.
• Participate in internal audits, quality meetings, and client inspections.
• Support mechanical completion, punch listing, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
• Promote compliance with project HSE and quality standards at all times.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related discipline).
• Minimum 12-15 years of experience as a QC Engineer in Oil & Gas, EPC, Petrochemical, Refinery, Industrial, or Construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance and Quality Control principles, procedures, and documentation.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards such as ASME, API, ASTM, AWS, ISO 9001, IEC, and project specifications.
• Experience in Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), Method Statements, NCR management, and quality audits.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and inspection requirements.
• Knowledge of welding inspection, NDT coordination, material inspection, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Strong communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
• GCC/Middle East project experience preferred.
• Relevant certifications such as CSWIP, BGAS, NACE, ISO 9001 Internal Auditor, or equivalent will be an advantage.
